Just finalizing a personal injury case which was handled by the Mitchell Law Firm. This took almost a year from the incident and now discover I was lied to about their percentage. They sent the settlement check via certified mail,no doubt to keep a customer from becoming too irate in their office. I was told 25% if it is settled directly, 33 1/3 if it goes to court. It was settled directly (at a very low value) yet they charged me 33 1/3%. I called and spoke with their office manager, who on two previous occasions lied about procedures. She actually said they could charge any amount as much as 40 or 50%. That the original contract is used for making pencil notations which can affect the final cost. I was so angry, I blew up (should not have done so). Then told her I was filing a complaint with the bar. I have called for the official complaint form and will definitely follow up.

My friend retained the firm in March 2010. They said they would be responsive and keep him up to date on everything. After 2 months nothing was done. My friend was hurt bad and needed money right away. He had a financier who would lend money if he had a case. The attorney firm never followed up with the financier and my friend is about to be on the streets. After making an inquiry, the office manager (wife) decided to cut my friend loose and refused to do business with him anymore. They wasted 3 months of his life and treated him like dirt--never letting him speak to the actual attorney, Mr. Mitchell, himself. I would avoid these people like the plague. They are unresponsive, irresponsible, and rude.
