Oates was hired to manage the probate on my mother's estate. She some retirement accounts, two life insurance policies and stocks. SEVEN months after her death, Oates has only sent transfer papers to the single stock broker. NONE of the banks have been contacted. BOTH insurance companies have sent him simple paperwork (one sent it twice!) which he has failed to complete. Oates also claimed he had a man who would do my mother's taxes. On April 15th, I found out he had done NOTHING so I had to frantically file extensions and am now doing the taxes myself. The worst part of all this is that he absolutely REFUSES to speak with me or my brother. Phone calls are handled by his secretary who won't put him through. Phone messages go unanswered. He doesn't have email. He has a FAX machine but won't turn it on unless you call first (see above!) and then he doesn't respond anyway. What kind of lawyer won't talk to his client? In my opinion, he is criminally incompetent.
