Cathy Smuk... Looks like its been a few years since anyone has stepped up and written a review on this legal representative, of the OCL. NOTHING has changed based on the reviews posted previously. Could not have been assigned a more USELESS or thoughtless legal rep for OCL. Do EVERYTHING in your power to have an alternate OCL assigned to your case. This woman is toxic beyond belief and should be disbarred from practicing ANY area of law. She has ZERO comprehension of children's needs to have both parents involved in a child/children's lives. Unaccommodating. Does not listen. Has ZERO ability to be pragmatic. How this woman manages to be 'certified' to make decisions that affect the welfare of children and families is beyond all logic. Fact that previous posts mention she has children is incredibly hard to believe. They likely disowned her hence her pathetic conduct.

I can't write enough negative stuff about Cathy Smuk - she is the worst OCL to work with and did not listen to my children's requests. If you get her try to get another OCL that will work for your family's best interests.

Worst OCL ever!!! Never listened to what my daughter wanted and sided with the mother. Has no intellect to sniff out BS from the mother and she thinks she is smarter than you. If you get this poor example of an incompetent lawyer assigned to your case, RUN to the court and plead that you want to request another OCL. She will mess up your family as she did mine and she doesn't have any emotions about hurting others by the poor decisions she makes. She is NOT QUALIFIED to be a lawyer and should be disbarred.

Got to appointment 1 hour early & she was very rude. Parked in her driveway and she hand gestured me to move my vehicle. During interview she seemed like a different person altogether. Would not accommodate me, had to take a day off work (no pay for me)and forcing me to take another day off for the children's interview. On the plus side, she did allow me extra time to tell my side as I had a very, very complex story, almost two and a half hours. She wrote 8 pages of notes. Hopefully she listens and not just hears what my children have to say at their interview.

horrible absolutely horrible I cannot believe she has children of her own. If working with daniel mussleman they are the most clueless team ever. They do not care one bit for the children. Advice if your looking to avoid them do not answer emails or phone calls move away and do not give an address as they do not care. Very slow and never work hard they seem to just want it to go away. No worries if you have CAS files opened in many areas they do nothing to help the children. You can get away with anything they are oblivious to life in general. Neither knows how to treat children weather they are 10 12 14 they treat them as if they were 2. Children in our case played them. Good luck if you get her or both I would request a new OCL immedietly.

We dealt with Cathy for the majority of 2012 we never had a problem with her she returned emails and phone calls promptly. She could have tried a different approach on some matters but seemed to throw in the towel when things got difficult. She was never rude and it was nice dealing with her.

very uncomfortable to talk to, intimidating, fake sweetness, even kids could see trough it. Making life efecting decisions based on mininimum knowledge of history of the family.great personality for the lawyer- not caring for others!!

Takes the Father's side no matter what he has done or how long his criminal record is. Has no problem calling you names, rolling her eyes at you when you speak, treats you like you are beneath her. Not good when speaking with kid's. Talks to you like you are stupid. I spoke to a few ppl who have dealt with this woman and they all say the same thing and this is just summing it up! Awful woman!
