This lawyer left my family member high and dry. Never answered questions clearly, provided zero forward momentum in their separation and achieved absolutely nothing. He was terrible at communicating and charged a ton of money. DO NOT TRUST THIS LAWYER. Seek a beget representative to help you reach an amicable agreement.

Mark's office represented my ex. The original documents I received, via Crystal Herritt, had grammar and spelling errors throughout. I provided detailed section 7 expenses on an excel spreadsheet. Mark's office redid the spreadsheet and it was a mess to say the least. Mark was very delinquent in responding to me.

Mark was great during my matter he helped to set goals and stay on track with what was going on the only time things were slow was when the opposing counsel wouldn’t move fast I can’t say enough good things about Mark and his firm

I found Mark to be very knowledgeable in all aspects of family law.
My ex had a cocky high priced lawyer with nearly 40 years experience in family law.
That didn't scare Mark at all . Mark made him look silly, not only on paper but the courtroom as well. Mark knows family law.
The staff at Simpson Law are very professional and communicate well with each other within the office.
I would definitely recommend Simpson Law to handle your family law issues.

I'm rather surprised at these ratings. My experience with Mark Simpson was not at all positive. He was slow in dealing with opposing counsel and frequently couldn't remember details of my case. I came into his office for a discussion and he had already booked a phone conference with opposing counsel at the same time. He hadn't discussed anything with me beforehand and I ended up negotiating with opposing counsel on the phone because Simpson couldn't recall details of my case. I cut my losses with him and found another lawyer. Extremely unprofessional, avoid at all costs.

Mark was very upfront with cost and timing of my divorce and settlement. He also has a great staff that does a lot of the paperwork with a lower hourly rate so I was happy when I received my invoices. Everything was very organized in court and Mark remembered everything we had talked about and didn’t need to stumble through paperwork to get the answers for the judge like the other lawyer did. I was copied on every email and phone conversation so I knew exactly what was happening and what was talked about through out the hole process. Hope I never go through this again but if I did I would call Mark back in a second.

Mark is amazing to work with. I am very happy to have worked with someone who is very professional and knowledgeable about family law. I extremely appreciated how smooth and easy Mark made my legal processes feel. I was never worried and felt confident that all my legal needs were being taken care of. This gave me lots of peace of mind.I was impressed with how fast everything was being handled as I wanted things to move as fast as possible. I appreciate the flexibility that Mark showed while working with me quickly and efficiently to get things done. Not only is Mark wonderful to work with, all his staff also showed great deals of kindness and compassion. I always felt welcomed and that I could call and ask questions any time. My legal dealings involved child support. I had been to a lawyer previously and much earlier when the divorce had occurred, so had some experience with process, and how intimidating and costly it could be. In all of my interactions I felt that I was treated respectfully and that Mark and his staff truly cared about me and my children's situation. I felt that all communication i.e. questions, answers, documents or explanations were addressed quickly and thoroughly and when I required further explanation or advice, it was offered and I never felt like a bother. I felt that the billing was timely and dealt with monthly so as not to have a big surprise. Mark's staff also were kind and professional. Although the process was a long haul, that had more to do with the other side. The out come was favourable for my kids and I am grateful that I had Mark and his staff help to guide me.

Mark is a decent, honest and caring lawyer, which I found to be extremely rare in my 8 years of experience with family law as a result of divorce. Being a father himself, he offers sound, and practical advice, that a parent needs in these difficult circumstances. Our system is greatly flawed. If you are viewing negative ratings about this lawyer understand that it is likely the system that failed these poor folks, not Mark. Mark went out of his way for my daughter and I and I am truly grateful. Divorce and custody battles are one of the most difficult situations you will face and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. If you can work it out with your spouse it is always the better way, but in extreme circumstances, when divorce is the only option, Mark Simpson is the person you want to represent you.

Mark was very professional. My divorce took over 3 years due to changes from the my ex (change in lawyers, demands etc) and he was adaptable and quick to respond to changes. I hired Mark because he was recommended and I was not disappointed. At work I deal with lawyers and Mark provided better service than what I receive at work. Knowing my ex and a little about the legal system, Mark's billings were what I expected going into the process. While the process took longer than him and I expected that was a result of my ex, not his work. He fought on my behalf and got money that I would not have gotten with out him. Going into the process knowing how lawyers bill, recognizing he is one person and having a basic understanding of the legal system I am very happy with Mark and would recommend him. He is friendly, takes time to listen, offers options, stood up for my rights, and displayed integrity. I am very comfortable that I made the right decision hiring Mark and am happy with the result.

Mark provided wise advice when I needed it and explained the process very well. I was going through a divorce and as an older person felt very vulnerable. He works very hard to put your money in his account. He convinced the court to give over $100,000. of our money away in court ordered price drops on our properties because he decided he wanted the file done and he had a release for the proceeds to go to his account. I went from middle class to bankrupt.

I hired Mark almost 3 years ago to simply perform the effort to get my chil support increased and collect arrears. During my free consultation, I was told this would take 3-5 hours. He doesn't appear interested or knowledgeable on how to perform this simple request. He does not respond to emails or communicate the reason for these delays. My children are missing lifestyle as a result. I have sent a formal complaint to the Law Society of Upper Canada as I want my money back or my service completed as requested.

I hired him in 2015. At the beginning, he makes all sense.
However, this lawyer is a big big liar, a big drag that caused me thousands for absolutely nothing. He is unprofessional at the end, and he is a true tricky evil person. He will basically tell you ANY lie (Half-truth professional lie) to have more money from you.
Do NOT hire this person, and run away from him.

He has to be upfront about the realities of a dragged out proceeding. He fought for the right things on my behalf but the other party with more money kept filing motions even after trial and court orders were made. I didn't have the money to fight for what was legally mine. He didn't want to stop so I had to walk away. He had been exceptionally nice until I did that. Then it was nasty emails which I will submit to the Law Society. Very unprofessional in the end. Needs to understand that it's not his personal fight against the other lawyer. He had to win at all costs to me not him. If you're fighting against an abusive person with lots of money to keep paying their lawyer you will never win so in the end the other party gets away with not paying support. So my advice. Don't hire him or any lawyer for that matter. You can't compete with liars, cheats and abusers unless you sink to their level.

you can always tell this lawyer is truly interested in your case, not for the money, but to succeed on your case. He will communicate and do what is need to understand your facts and situation. Even at times when there hasn't been communication for some time, he still seeks to understshd how things are going. He is one of the most knowledgeable lawyers around. One of the best, definitely.

Mark seems at first to be the guy to help you but do not be fooled. Many mistakes in communication on his end. He confuses himself when given direction, often contacted me stating "what exactly do you want me to do/expect?" Even the evening before my trial, he called me, when I was most needing assurance, he berated my case and completely let me down. He did ok in court the next day. No talk of phone call night before. He gets bored easily then its more money more money. He is uncaring and selfish, never helped after the court order was finalized, just a "can't help you out this time around" legit verbatim.. I'm left hanging with a court order with as many holes as swiss cheese, an 11,000$ piece of paper. Even thoe I offered my credit card number to continue with yearly support order adjustments, I'm not of interest or big money obviously, now need a new lawyer to finish his job. Don't hire him, he's all talk but waste of time and your money.

Great experience ... was really at a loss of how to proceed after my separation and Simpson Law was recommended to me and after comparing based on initial consults felt most comfortable to go with him. He is definitely confident, but does not do the "dog and pony show" in fact he will step up and be aggressive when and if necessary. He provides updates whenever expected and usually through email as that seems to be easier. This is a lawyer I'd recommend! Finally, just a comment that most people understand that lawyers are expensive and charge on the basis of an hourly rate. Mr. Simpson always seeks client instructions and is on a regular billing cycle so there are no surprises.

Mark does not invoice , then when he does he does not include amounts, only the final amount, his accounting system needs work as he does not credit payments that are made and you end up fighting about monies instead of what he was hired for
