This despicable "referee" for the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation board's behavior is atrocious. I have seen former employees, crumble and breakdown as a result of this person's inappropriate demeanor during hearings. This is not just once, but several times. The job of the "referee" is to provide guidance for the proceedings - not berate, embarrass and humiliate individuals. It's not like most of the employees can afford legal counsel, lets be real. This is an unemployment hearing, not a criminal trial - yet she treats the claimants and employers as if they are criminals. She displays disdain, as if someone is bothering her for appealing claims, which result in a hearing. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a fair hearing with this woman due to her inability to remain impartial and respectful to others. I will be filing a formal complaint against Ms. Lavelle. Maybe Ms. Lavelle should stick to her law practice and not be on the taxpayers dollars?
