Richard Stewart represented me briefly, I fired him with extreme prejudice! My next lawyer reviewed my file and found numerous areas where Richard Stewart was intentionally harming me; so much so, that I was strongly advised to report him to the law society. I was horrified, no one hires a lawyer and pays them to harm you, and I did not even know the man. I later found out (from another lawyer) that Richard Stewart and a couple of other lawyers (he is close with in other firms) decide from the outset how much they will extort from their clients, how long the whole event will take (years, not months) and who will win. "Richard won last time against opposing council so this time Richard will loose" I was told by an attorney. I was horrified! I was told that every complaint made against a lawyer to the law society is published monthly and all lawyers see the complaints, it's a sort of insider shaming thing, Richard Stewart does not want to see his name on complaints so he pulls dirty

It took Richard two years and a $30k billing to finalize my Separation Agreement. My ex found loopholes in the agreement due to Richard's use of ambiguous language. I am now faced with filing a negligence charge against him. I would not recommend this lawyer, he overcharged for very poor service and made the whole experience much more stressful due to his incompetence. I was constantly fighting him to stand up to the other lawyer. During "mediation" he did not stand up and speak on my behalf, rather let me argue with the other lawyer while he sat back and charged me $375 and hour.
