Kenneth Bernas appeared before State Supreme Court Judge Penny Wolfgang to plead guilty to 33 felonies including multiple counts of grand larceny, one count of identity theft and a single count of repeated failure to file a New York Income tax return.In one instance, Bernas falsely obtained loans in the names of 20 personal injury clients, without their permission. Bernas then fraudulently converted settlements meant for those clients for his own use after the cases were settled.
In the second case, Bernas engaged in a so-called "Ponzi" scheme, embezzling money from 9 estates and an individual client.
