Valerie is very caring, professional and most importantly assessible. She has many years of experience and I feel confident working with her. Her receptionist Donna is lovely with a big heart. The Covid-19 protocols are excellent and I feel safe everytime I am at their office.

If you would like to give all your money to lawyers instead of splitting it between yourselves, then I recommend Valerie Little. Extremely combative with very poor communication skills with the other lawyer. Made absolutely no effort to find middle ground and forced everything into court, repeatedly. Cost our family all of our savings before she was finally fired and agreements could be reached. No matter how angry you are, do yourself a favour and find a less combative lawyer, they are there to help you reach fair agreements not promise to get you everything and fail to deliver anything.

This review is solely for the administration assistant, Donna, whom I could not get past and who cancelled my first appointment at the last moment and refused to pick up the phone to reschedule/ discuss. Her manner on the phone when asked for clarification about billing procedure turned unprofessional and confrontational very quickly. My concern - Having to pay cash in advance to make a first appointment, without ever meeting or talking to Valerie to confirm that what I wanted was in her expertise. I paid up, but obviously it was not good enough or fast enough so my appointment was cancelled. I did get my money back, but reading the other reviews, Donna is just a reflection of Valerie Little.

I am very grateful for the care and expertise she has provided for my family. She is very professional but also caring. She can see people for who they are and will fight for the best interest of the child and/or family. She is very knowledgeable and has worked in the courts for many years so she knows what the best avenue is to take. Thank you Valerie

Way over priced and too high on herself... I used her for what should have been a basic divorce. 5K retainer and turned into major money pit. At 20k she books a 5 day trial... when asked why she told me “”We like to litigate”. FIRED!! I called sometime later for a copy of my file and she wanted a $100.00 copy fee! Her bills were not detailed and when asked for a breakdown she looked at me like I was stupid. Had me running to answer unsubstantiated claims, affidavits... you name it. Found out from friends (affidavits) she would call them for up to an hour at a time... FOR NOTHING! Hmmm wonder why she couldn’t produce detailed Billings. At nearly $400.00 hr... a total ripoff... Trust me... MOVE ON! Just like my Ex... She only wanted my money... didn’t give a damn about me or the children of the divorce... That $ would have gone a long way for things that mattered... All just my opinion of course.

Ms. Little is a very down to earth, logical lawyer. She is a straight shooter, has many years of experience and tremendous insight in human behaviour. She gave me excellent candid advice and was approachable. She knew when to play nice and when to push a little more. And she was fair if I wanted to do something that may have been beyond her advise. She knows how the system works and has been in the same community for many years. When dealing with something where emotions run high, such as a divorce, it's good to have an experienced pragmatic realist in your corner. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for Ms. Little and her team.

I try to give people the benefit of doubt. Everyone has bad days, and I'd imagine working in family law, there's plenty of stress, often dealing with people at their absolute worst. I can appreciate that. However, after two unpleasant run-ins with this individual, I no longer feel inclined to make apologies for her. She needs to understand that people who come to her are not knowledgable about the law. She made no attempt to actually understand what the situation actually was. She did the absolute bare minimum to explain what our options were. As a result, we went downstairs and upstairs several times over two days, moving paperwork around, that in the end, was not even required. If she had made the slightest investment of time to understand or pointed us where to find the answers, we all could have been saved a lot of grief and time. Add to that a condescending attitude and generally unpleasant disposition and you have a very poor representation of the legal system.

after dealing with my ex who has Malignant Narcisistic personality disorder, I would say she is an expert in this field!! She was very effective in the courtroom, and was able to communicate to the judge this very complex and manipulative individual ending in us winning the case. Much to my exes surprise, the judge was able to see through all the lies! If you are dealing with this kind of individual I would highly recommend Valerie. She is now well versed in this disorder.

This attorney is not cooperative at all. She is only for money but not for her clients. She created more problems. Advised to go to the court instead of any mediation. She did everything to extend the process for one year in order to make money. Moreover, she is a dishonest lawyer. She is always late with any submissions and charge her client blaming her staff. So disorganized and so rude. NEVER HIRE this unprofessional lawyer. Save your money!!! Complained about her to BC Law Society.

I first met Valerie as Duty Counsel and her calm demeanor was very welcomed. After inquiring if I could hire her, we met shortly thereafter. I found Valerie to be focused on my case, very professional and knowledgeable. Donna, her assistant, was always professional, patient, had a very good compassionate disposition and always had time for me when I phoned. Donna was most efficient in getting back to me with the answers to my inquiries. In the end, for me personally, it wasn't in my best interest to hire Valerie, as the compensation I could get wouldn't compensate the monies paid for her services. If that were not the case, I wouldn't have hesitated hiring her as my lawyer.

Valerie Little was excellent in leading me through this awkward and emotional process. Her knowledge of the law, in particular divorce proceedings, was exemplary. Valerie's communication ability was invaluable. Valerie broke down the legal jargon and explained the process to me in simple terms. I would highly recommend Valerie Little. I would also like to mention her assistant Donna. Each time we called Donna was very pleasant and informative. Donna never made us feel as it we were bothering her or that she was too busy to help us. Valerie and Donna are a great team!!!

I would highly recommend Valerie Little as an extremely effective attorney. My previous lawyer and my ex-spouse's lawyer were constantly engaged in countless applications in court that seemed to accomplish nothing but cost me thousands in legal fees. My case was going nowhere. Valerie was recommended to me as a lawyer with an excellent reputation among clients, lawyers and judges. So, I switched to her and was I glad I did! She immediately cut to the chase. She used her superior knowledge of divorce law, her reputation among judges and other lawyers and her formidable powers of persuasion to get my ex to agree to a quick settlement that got me all that I wanted and saved me thousands in legal fees. I am eternally grateful to Valerie for putting my failed marriage to rest and letting me get on with my life.

I give Valerie Little a heartfelt 10 out of 10 as a family litigator - extremely knowledgeable, tenacious and persuasive, while also reasonable and compassionate. At the hearing I was almost embarrassed for my ex's lawyer - what he said obviously struck the judge as unreasonable and untenable. When Ms. Little spoke to the judge he seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. He smiled and nodded and wrote a lot of notes. His reasons for judgment - which were almost entirely in my favor and gave me more than I had hoped for - seemed to repeat everything Ms. Little had argued. My experience with Valerie Little has been great. I am very surprised by her reviews. I have had a terrible time dealing with my ex this has been a two year process of which I have got nowhere. Now that I finally have a decent lawyer (Ms. Little) I am seeing results. I have found her to be tough on opposing counsel and demanding. If you knew my ex you would know exactly why we tenacity and direct approach have been exactly what has made the difference. For me she is exactly what was needed. There was no chance of a amicable relationship between my ex and I. He hated having her as my counsel as she wouldn't put up with his BS. I always backed down to my ex as she finally stuck up for me and fought for me. I think that if you are on relatively civil terms with a ex and are hoping to settle quickly then maybe go with someone else but if you want someone to fight for you and get results then she is who you need. I would highly recommend her if you want to have someone there to fight for u

Took me for every penny I had, and then some. Refused to cooperate for mediation and made things hostile between me and my ex. Brought things up in court which were "Without Prejudice" (at the time I didn't know what that meant, but I do now after a judge went up one side of me and down the other for using those details in an affidavit)Succeeded in making the JUDGE biased against me. retained her in November for $5000 after literally 3 minutes in a court room, a botched mediation hearing and no progress (outside my ex hating me) she told me at the end of December that my retainer was used and I owed her an addition $9000.00. Then told me that in order to start prepping for trial I would need an additional $20,000.00. DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, EVER hire Valerie Little... I had a chance encounter with another one of her clients three years after my experience with her, only to learn her experience was exactly the same.. and it cost her a fortune for NO results. needs to be fired

Several reasons for my rating of Ms. Little. She received a proposal to settle from my Ex and stalled to respond with a counter proposal until 3 months later. She was late in writing affidavits, needed hand-holding in writing affidavits (I spent 2 hours in her office going over details that I emailed her in advance), lots of countless errors on her part. After a year and a half of retaining Valerie, a summary trial did not proceed due to scheduling conflicts. She ultimately fueled that drama between me and my Ex, and also made my Ex's lawyer look like the one to blame for drawing the process out... when in fact it was Valerie's fault. I changed lawyers and within 2 months had a settlement. I would NOT recommend Valerie to anyone. I spent over $20,000 with her and did not get any results. She is quick to react initially, but feeds off of the emotions of separation and divorce to draw out the bills and money from the client.

I am surprised at the comments for this lawyer. She did an amazing job for me. My ex refused to leave the family home, pay spousal/child, and threatened to go for sole custody. Within a month my child and I were back in the home, with spousal/child support, and him getting alternate weekends and one afternoon per week with our child. She always returns my calls and emails promptly. Despite the repeated litigation against me by my ex, she has maintained my position and not given an inch of ground. Yes this has dragged out, not due to Valerie Little but due to my abusive ex, so I know she has had the same assistant for the past two years. Both have always been pleasant and courteous to me. She employs a well thought out strategy, is extremely knowledgeable of the law, and is very intelligent, caring and perceptive. She has been very supportive of me through this difficult time, and I would highly recommend her to anyone facing a difficult divorce. You can be sure that she has your back.

I made a huge mistake in going to Valerie Little! She & her legal staff made many mistakes, literally at my expense! There were 3 assistants in 2 yrs. VL was rude & condescending to them. She smirked & enjoyed the misery that she put my children in, faced with having to choose between their parents. Dragged it out, wouldn't get to court, no child support for me & wrote up countless bills. When I said I couldn't afford to drag it out any further, VL turned on me & threatened to charge me more if I filed a complaint against her. I recommended my X's lawyer to others & they had good & timely results. VL made snide comments about "opposing counsel" She's unprofessional, nasty & mean spirited. She obviously doesn't care about her clients or their families. If VL had done her job done, my X & I might have had a civil relationship following our divorce. VL obviously enjoys others' pain. VL is ineffective & inefficient. Run in the opposite direction! Do NOT use this poor excuse of a lawyer!

I wish I had checked out her rating before I had hired her. She didn't do anything for me, yet charged me an arm and a leg for nothing. She even tried to convince me to hire a private detective - a friend of hers she said. Glad I didn't go down that road. Stay away from this lawyer!! She shouldn't be practicing law. She's a total scammer!!!

I used Valerie back in August 2008. I paid her $5k and was used up in by the end of October.Charge me for every little thing. Therefore I fired her. She wanted to drag everything out. Stay away from her.
