Do yourself a favor and hire any other lawyer. Patrice will simply mess up your case and then push you to settle once he has damaged it beyond repair. God help you if you choose him as your lawyer for any matter. COMPLETE DISASTER.

This guy is just a prick. He doesn't even know the law. I am truly baffled as to how he is even a licensed lawyer in the first place. He doesn't have an ounce of ethics. He only thinks about his own pockets, and tries to wing it every step of the way. When your matter goes downhill due to his poor guidance, legal advise, and representation, he will take no responsibility for it. Instead he will dance around in circles, make up excuses, and simply suggest that you settle in order to reduce your costs, but more importantly so that he can get paid and move on to his next case which he will manage poorly and lose like all the rest of his cases. Save yourself the time and headache. Choose practically anyone else as your lawyer, but not Patrice Cote. He's just awful. If I could give a zero, I would.

Based on my experience, Patrice Côté does not seem well-versed in the law and often appears to be improvising rather than providing solid legal guidance. When his strategies fail, he pushes clients toward settling—seemingly more focused on getting paid than achieving the best outcome. His track record suggests a pattern of losses, which raises concerns about his effectiveness as a lawyer.

I am bitter ; this lawyer put me down. Not available for my case and delays in filling legal documents. In the end, my problems didn't get soved. I have wasted time and money. Any other lawyer would have done better.

Patrice Cote is a lawyer that realistically speaking should probably not be a lawyer. He's a very petulant combative little narcissist. A mini Donald Trump is the best comparison I can make.

My logistics company and I were being sued by a disgruntled former business associate. I originally hired a lawyer who proved ineffective and then I discovered Mr. Cote and retained his services. Mr. Cote is a first rate strategist and litigation lawyer. His analysis of the merits of the case and the lack of credibility of the plaintiff and his settlement recommendations forced an out of court settlement that saved us tens of thousands of dollars and put an end to years of court proceedings. I am extremely pleased with Mr. Cote's representation and strongly recommend him.

retained Mr. Cote to represent me and my company when I discovered that my business associate had been embezzling funds from the company for the past 12 months of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Mr. Cote was instrumental in terminating our association with the individual who then attempted to gain control of the company through litigation. Mr. Cote was relentless in preventing the individual from gaining control and damaging the company. I have now regained the entire ownership of the business and my relationship with the individual has been terminated permanently, along with the litigation. Mr. Cote was able to achieve all of this in 4 months. I cannot praise Mr. Cote enough for his intelligent approach and ability to carefully craft a strategy towards victory and success. I highly recommend Mr. Cote.

I have been dealing with a very difficult former spouse who interfered with my access to my son for years and now refuses to sell the matrimonial home. He is reliable and always provides me with candid legal advice about the merits of any step we take in my case. I am a professional educator. Last year I was offered employment at a private school in New York. I retained Mr. Cote to seek an order from the court allowing me to relocate my residence with my two daughters from Toronto to New York. My former spouse sought to relocate our daughters to Houston, Texas. After months of bitter and acrimonious proceedings the court sided with me and ordered that my daughters live with me in New York. Mr. Cote also succeeded in obtaining a fair and just order for spousal support. I am extremely pleased with Mr. Cote's services. His advice was intelligent and his strategy reasoned and ultimately in the best interest of our daughters. I cannot praise Mr. Cote enough for his professionalism and I would not hesitate one minute to recommend him.

I hired Mr. Cote to help me gain access to my 7 year old daughter who I had never met before. He fought for me and obtained an access order. Every other lawyer I spoke to told me it would be impossible to get access after 7 years of no contact. Mr. Cote emphasized the importance for my daughter to know her father and have a meaningful relationship with me. This was a difficult case that other lawyers turned down. Mr. Cote relied on years of experience arguing custody and access cased before the courts and was ultimately successful. I disagree with the reviews on this site. Obviously most of these individuals have never dealt with Mr. Cote or they would not be writing these awful comments.

The communication from his office was absolutely terrible. I paid Patrice over $20 000 for my complicated divorce and I was shocked that at worst it took 21 emails and calls to get someone we were paying $500 per hour to respond to a question. His lawyering was okay but his office was run by the most incompetent staff I could imagine. I feel disrespected and irritated by his office staff's laziness.

My wife hired this Patrice Cote to do a very basic business agreement on consent . She had about a 1/2 hour initial consult (most family attorneys will do this at deep discount), then drafted up a document which was basically an edited template. Probably required an hour tops, most likely much less. The next thing I know, my zero balance credit card has a balance of $5,000 on it, conveniently maxed out. Patrice Cote essentially charged my naive wife the entire limit of our credit card, for about 1 hour of work or less. My attorney friends and colleagues would have charged maybe $300-400 for something like this. When I found about the scam, and after I calmed down, I called Patrice Cote to demand an answer and a refund. Patrice Cote been giving my wife and I the runaround for a week, and has yet to refund our money.

I contacted Patrice A. J. Côté to represent me in a difficult divorce situation. He gave the best legal support in solving the child custody, the sale of the matrimonial house and other matters related to my separation. His bilingualism is definitively an asset. My case was emotionally difficult but he took time to listen and to advice me the best. He is a professional, knowledgeable, meticulous and compassionate lawyer. His price is reasonable regarding to the amount of preparation provided. I would hire most definitively again if I have to deal with another legal issue. I recommend Patrice to anyone who needs an experienced lawyer.

I asked Patrice Cote for a specific quote to have a real estate transaction completed. Final bill was almost three times amount quoted - deducted from real estate proceeds (no chance to dispute). There were some slight complications with the transaction, however nothing close to justifying the higher price without discussion. I tried to resolve billing dispute, however Patrice Cote would not budge on over-charged amount.I discovered years later that I could have assessed his bill and that Patrice Cote had a duty to inform me of this option. Patrice Cote did not inform me and was happy to watch me feel that I had no options.

I received Patrice as a referral from EAP (Employee Assistance Program.) I found out once I sought ILA (Independent Legal Advice) that he had poorly advised me from the beginning. The interim agreement was a consent order and should have been a court order, amongst other things. I paid a lot of money for essentially not much. The only thing that he did accomplish was a proposed Christmas schedule that was granted finally in front of a judge at settlement conference. I thought I had a settlement offer out; I did not. So many of the steps were a waste of time and money. The next step was trial before I sought the ILA. (The next lawyer broke it to me straight and hard-I was no where near ready.) He was very negligent and did not do his job. We started the assessment process with him. It is awful when you trust and pay someone to do their job and they do not.I trusted him with my son and my life. Thankfully my family intervened and we started the process to fire him and move on to another.

Patrice Cote handled my divorce case last year. He was professional, organized and knowledgeable about the process. He walked and talked me through what I should expect as my case moved through the courts. He always took the time to answer whatever questions I had. I have since retained him for other legal issues.

I retained Patrice Cote in October 2013. He has accomplished more in past 8 months with my divorce case, then previous lawyers had in the past 4 years. This despite my ex husband constantly delaying the process. Mr.Cote has always conducted himself with professionalism and respect for the courts. Mr.Cote is extremely knowledgeable in family law and work ethic is unsurpassed. Mr.Cote has always communicated with me in a timely manner. I feel that I am getting very good value with Mr.Cote as he surpassed my monthly income that I was expecting from the courts by a considerable amount. I would highly recommend Mr.Cote as a family law/divorce lawyer.

I have had a very good relationship with Mr. Cote for many years dealing with my businesses. He goes out on a limb for his client as the case refers to shows. I don't agree with the two previous comments which were obviously posted by a disgruntled client who wrote two reviews one after the other within two days. This site does a disservice to legal professionals. It provides bad clients an opportunity to slander their lawyer. It unfairly portrays hard working professionals. It borders on slander.

I used this lawyer about 6 years ago and he was really a unreliable and bad lawyer. Truely one of the best lawyers I have dealt with in my business and personal issues. He designed a strategist to win and adapted our stratgy to changes in the litigation.
