The attorney missed my discovery deadline, costing me thousands of dollars in child support payments. I asked Wooten multiple times why this happened. She refused to answer me! Then my attorney quit and Wooten gave me only three days notice. I was told by my attorney that if my temporary Custody Order wasn’t working out I could take my case to trial. It took Kristi Wooten 3 weeks to respond to my concerns and then she promptly advised that if I wanted to take this to trial, they would quit. They would not honor their word! In Kristi Wooten’s cited “facts” of my case as her reasoning. She got the facts wrong! Then they failed to give me my entire file upon request. I paid thousands of dollars for the attorney to write to the GAL, with exhibits, & it was missing. The paralegal then seemed confused when I asked for the rest of the file. They made sure they took their money for “representing” me at the child support hearing that they were completely unprepared for though.

The Wooten Law Group is an amazing group of professionals. The care and concern that they show for their clients are exceptional. I never expected to find the legal representation of this caliber much less at what was a fair and reasonable cost. The response time from the firm for any questions was prompt. By the time that my case was closed, I felt like part of the Wooten Law Group family.

An amazing attorney! I was a military father of three and thanks to Mrs. Wooten’s in depth knowledge of family law, thoroughness of court room preparations and ability to quickly and without hesitation, argue on my behalf on several occasions in front of three different judges, I was awarded primary custody of my children. I actually felt sorry for the other attorneys as she always had them on their heels and speechless. Hands down the most competent and well-rounded attorney in Hampton Roads. She and her staff are true professionals. I hope I never need representation again, but if I do I will retain her services again.

Kristi fought my case at trial for over five hours, never slowing, never tiring. She is nothing short of absolutely amazing. She has a sharp memory, so everything you tell her from start to finish she can pull out, with detail, when the moment arises. You know she actually HEARS you when you speak with her, so I never felt like a penny was wasted. Not only is she attentive, she was personally invested in my family and their well being, and no, it is not a show. I had another attorney on my custody and visitation matter years ago and I shudder to think of how much money I spent for careless representation. Her staff was equally caring, and when the *other party* started up the crazy around visitations, they were always available and invested in helping me as quickly as possible. As for the previous negative entries on this site, Kristi has been my attorney for almost four years and I have NEVER seen her show up unprepared, or carry a briefcase for that matter(??).

The entire staff at Wooten Law Group was amazing from the very beginning. They were compassionate about my personal situation, and were concerned with getting the best possible outcome for my child. Communication was always quick and thorough. I was never out of the loop, and everyone was always prepared to walk into court. I highly recommend this law firm if you have a family/custody issue that you need resolved. Not only are they good at what they do but they CARE about the families they are serving.

I can't say much for Ms. Wooten. I actually saw her walk out mid hearing on her client. Packed her briefcase and abandoned the lady. Judge even asked Ms. Wooten to see the case through. Unbelievable and very unprofessional. This sums up the kind of attorney she is.

As an observer of a family member who hired Kristy Wooten, I offer the following perspective. She probably has knowledge after 15 years of practice but no offensive plan. She was unorganized, unprepared. Communication is poor. One has to talk to an assistant attorney who then relays the info to her. This allows for double billing and lack of information to the client. If you have a complex case and need a strong, motivated attorney who acts on your behalf with some level of interest and energy toward your case, look elsewhere. Work quality can be measured by outcome. If the outcomes of legal disputes consistently fall short of the client's goals, there's a problem. I'm willing to pay for knowledge, work quality and demonstrated skill. I think a good attorney offers solid advice and is pro-active for their client. This attorney for the most part, seems disinterested. She can talk a good game during the initial consult but it ends there. Performance, it seems does not measure up.

Don't waste your time or money on KRISTI WOOTEN! She prolongs getting around to actually working on your case, is dishonest and will rip you off. Ms. Wooten LIES about work she's done on your case and is very clever when it comes to duplicate billing for the same services and making plenty of "mistakes" invoicing her clients. I guess she thinks her clients are too ignorant to do simple math. All of her correspondence, orders, motions and other documents contained an absurd number of typos, if not completely incorrect in stating dates, facts and details. Who doesn't have spell-check these days or can't get the year right? She is an embarrassment and will string you along so she can bill outrageously month after month. Ms. Wooten isn't worth using for legal matters even if she was pro bono. Don't be fooled by the blatantly fabricated "rave reviews" posted, no doubt by her or her rude staff trying to sucker more clients into trusting and hiring her.

Kristi is an excellent attorney as well as Brent Rowlands who did tons of research, preparation and discovery for my divorce case. I could not have survived without them and their intelligence and perseverance. I was so thankful we were able to settle outside the courtroom! What could have lasted for years was settled that day! Such a miracle for the upcoming holidays! Lacy Favila is such a sweet, caring and understanding legal assistant who listened and answered all of my questions and did a ton if research as well. She is a great person to lean on when things get tough. They all truly cared about me and helping me break free from my very controlling husband. I was billed for every LITTLE thing because this new hire was trying to look good to her boss--Ms. Wooten. If you can't get Kristi Wooten, don't bother with this firm.

I have never felt like I had a great lawyer before. I hired Kristy for an Emergency Custody hearing. She sends another lawyer whom I've never met in my life for the case. Thanks to my ex wife being a loser did I win. Yet was billed for it as her going as a partner. Don't dare call, message, email or say Hi or you will get billed at top dollar for nothing. So sad I sent so many people her way! My bad!

I have gone through several lawyers in my 8 year dispute. As a man seeking custody it is very difficult to win even when you have evidence. Kristi has been absolutely amazing! While she is very busy and not always able to speak with you directly every time you want, she is truly phenominal at knowing what needs to be done. I send her email with information and she always reads it and can even recite the contents of that email months later. Her rates are absolutely in line with her abilities. She does not nickle and dime you with small fees for copies and things of that nature. To add to it she has a great understanding group working with her. Spend an hour with her discussing your case and you WILL walk away knowing you have the best lawyer in the state. She will be brutally honest about your chances and fight to the end for you! A++++

AT court, the judge ordered Wooten to write up the order. First it took her 30 days just to write it up. Then, despite being given specific instruction on how the simple order was to be written, she wrote it up wrong. We had to go BACK to court AGAIN because it was unenforceable the way she wrote it.

Kristi lost evidence I'd given her for trial. She never spoke with any of the witnesses until the day of the trial. At trial, she never presented evidence of the other parent's repeated violations of the visitation conditions of the existing order. She charged me for things--such as subpoenaing evidence--that I found out later she never did. She talks so fast that no one including the judge can understand what she's saying.
