Max is an amazing lawyer. Take the other reviews with a grain of salt. There is a lot of misinformation out there about him. I did my research and found no issues with him. Max has A LOT of experience and is well known. His price is very reasonable and is less than an junior lawyer at the other fancy law firms. He doesn't care about making billable hours like these other fancy law firms. He is direct and to the point. If you mess up, he will be honest with you. He is not a "yes man" which is amazing because he will guide you if you are in the wrong. Don't take offense if he doesn't agree with you because he knows what's best in the eyes of the court. You are hiring an expert, trust him. He deals with the here and now and bases his responses on facts. This is the type of person that you want to have on your side so listen to him.

Max is quite the character, and an even better lawyer! He's very knowledgeable and experienced. His responses are short, direct, and will include the things the Court needs to know, nothing else. This scared me a little at first until I understood what he was doing. Trust his process! He doesn't like wasting time with things that are irrelevant in the eyes of the Court. That's what you pay a lawyer for right? If you ask him why something won't matter he will give you an honest answer. He has always answered my questions in a timely manor. We still have a long way to go in my case but so far I'm pleased with the outcome. I got what I was hoping for (for the most part) What I didn't get was not at any fault of Max. The Court system has its flaws, as with anything. He tells it like it is (which can come off a little abrasive) If you're a reasonable person you should be able to understand the point he's trying to make. He knows what he's doing! I will absolutely continue to be a client.

Horrible Lawyer. Arrogant. Vague Billing. Extremely inappropriate manner towards female clients. unprofessional in so many aspects of his job. Shows up late for court. Expressed to other party in court “my clients actually think I read all this”. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. I paid a lot of money to be strung along to believe I had a solid case, and when things started to get into the thick of it, it was either 30-40 thousand more in lawyer fees to “hopefully“ win if your lucky or mediation. I solved it in mediation on my own, and had to hire another lawyer to finish the process as I did not want to deal with Max ever again because his demeanour towards me got extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate.

I had a 10-minute consult with Max. In those 10 minutes, he was rude, asked me questions such as "why on earth would you do that?" He judged me the moment the call started. I tried explaining my situation but he rudely brushed me off. Thank goodness for consults.

Max Rapoport is currently under investigation by the Law Society for allegations of professional misconduct by 6 different clients. (Law Society Notice of Application June 14, 2017). The Law Society found Max Rapoport guilty of professional misconduct against his own client in 2016. His license was suspended for 4 months at that time. I wonder whether his positive reviews are an inside job.

I also value the opinions of reviewers, and often share both pos & neg reviews. With Max, I am very happy I met with him, rather then running from some of these very poor reviews.You will either appreciate his non-generic style or be afraid of the realities;he doesn't sugar coat.He wastes no time,and is very bold,2 very great qualities when you are paying the hourly rate of a lawyer.With his background in psyc and exp he helped me comprehend what is going on in my exes corner and how to be effective. He is a human and shared his extensive exp to help overcome the crazy!
I have recently confronted Max regarding his poor reviews and realize he isn't a big computer/tech nut,(very old school), and was glad I had. He had shared the reason for the "lash out" online.If you request his services and then welsh on the bill, he will not accept this and will get court order to pay the bill. The thieves don't like to loose and this is they only course of action they can take (and its free).

Highly unprofessional, blood sucking, fraud and con artist. He'll give you free advise to con you into hiring him. He says he is doctor's degree in Psychology but he uses his knowledge to suck money out of you. Very short tempered. He tries to scare you by using your opponents language. Never give you helpful advice. Will keep you guessing about any plan, which he never has from the beginning. He is good only to do what you want him to do. Not active at all. Has not proper filing system or a real secretary. Often makes mistakes in filing any court document and when pointed out will get mad/makes excuses. I am glad that I fired him. PLEASE save your time and money by NOT even talking to him.

Max is the worst lawyer we have dealt with. He makes up bills out of the blue. Won't give detailed billing. Quits before trial and puts forth no effort. He is just interested in getting money any way he can. Please read the links from Law Society. I think these positive reviews are an inside job for when his suspension is over in August

I have known Max since 1996 and have had dealings with him on and off since then. I have never been disappointed with his services. Max is blunt and to the point and sometimes can be very harsh and that is fantastic because you know what you are up against. Even with this demeanor Max remains professional with excellent work ethics. Max is extremely knowledgeable and that makes him one of the best in Family Law. I did not and would not use anyone else. When I needed a family lawyer I was referred by someone in the community to Max Rapoport. Max saw me promptly after our first telephone call and has been great ever since. He openly answered all my questions, was very knowledgable,and was honest and upfront from the start. Not one moment did I feel that Max was not looking out for the best interests of my child and myself. It is clear that the last few reviews are from individuals who themselves are unstable. There is truth in all reviews. Beware. Mr Rapoport convinced me he had started me on the right path but his agenda only becomes clearer leading up to trial as he carefully weighs "his" chances of winning, not yours. After receiving positive recommendations in a report by the Office of the Children's Lawyer, Max convinced me that my case would not go to trial and offered his services for free if it did. In February 2015 I received notice that I had lost my job and Max assured me of his continued services even in the event of trial. In March He began to criticize me and illogically side with my ex-wife on matters. Mr Rapoport found a way to quit my case in April 2015 and is pursuing a $10,000 judgement against me; a bill which I have asked him to reduce given the manipulative methods and timing he chose in quitting my case which cost me greatly in finding new representation in a short time and to deal with pending matters that also cost over $2000 to adjourn. limit of 1000 characters max

Research “Max Rapoport” thoroughly. Pay close attention to the negative ratings this lawyer has earned himself on this web site. Max is rude, arrogant, disrespectful, forgetful, self-centered and disorganized. He will waste time and money talking about his own case rather than focusing his attention on your case, the one you will be paying him extorbitantly to defend. Max's main goal is to create a huge case file at your expense. A file that will cost you dearly. It was clear that he has low respect for women. Women beware ! He cares not for your own family matter. Rather than mitigate the critical consequences of a family law matter Max will add to your frustration and stress levels tenfold. If you were unfortunate enough (as I was), to find this site after already in the “grips” of this individual, I suggest you watch his billing with laser sharp inspection. Note... Not sure who is posting the rave reviews. Stay away from this lawyer. There is an active LSUC investigation into Mr Rapoport. It is not by a client who doesn't want to pay their fee, it is a matter of conduct. LSUC does not pursue an investigation unless they have evidence, after all they are lawyers too.

Max is a great family lawyer. He tells it like it is and fights for you to succeed with your case. The last comment suggests you check the UCLS - I did. The only application against Max is from someone refusing to pay their legal fees - pathetic way to get out of paying your bill. My case had to go to trial and I could not afford a trial lawyer but Max continued to help me free of charge. What lawyer would do that!? Thank you Max for all your help. I am a woman, by the way.

I am a professional woman, employed in the mental health care field. I was referred to Max Rapoport from 2 sources - one from a shelter for abused women and the other from a colleague who works in the Durham Court system. That should tell you all you need to know. Mr. Rapoport has the respect of the Court and with an agency dealing with abused women. In my case, Mr. Rapoport was efficient, reliable and trustworthy and fair in his billing practices. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Rapoport as an experienced family law lawyer. I suspect that individuals that have a problem with him are disreputable people or ones who simply do not like to pay their bills. A recent complaining client referred to "numerous attorney malpractice suits" - other than the fact that attorney is an American reference, the statement is a complete fabrication.

I was going down a wrong path with different lawyer. I messaged Max with my circumstance and he knew right away I was being taken for a ride by 2 other lawyers and a therapist who could care less for my kids(wouldn't you like to know their names). Max immediately started the ball rolling in the right direction. He genuinely cares about doing the right thing for the children and is extremely knowledgeable in dealing with custody issues. Yes, lawyers cost money, but what price tag do you put on the relationship you have with your children? At least I know with Max the best interest of my kids comes first. No BS.

During my career it was part of my management duties to work with staff and the clients to resolve emotional complaints and concerns. Look at the whole picture don't take negative reviews seriously. What are the reasons for the displeasure. Some people are not easy to please and just like to vent. I found through experience that the public will post a negative review but it is seldom the case for people who are pleased. I am an intelligent educated women who has dealt with the general public for years. It is in my personal opinion that Max Rapoport is intellegent and knowlegable in law. His prices are average, he did not waste my time ,billings were correct. He showed me a professional and intellectual side. He is not a bum or arrogant! Arrogant, non communicative - calls/emails often go unanswered. Condescending, he makes you feel less than intelligent when asking questions. Suspicious billing practices, - mysterious invoices and application fees, doesn't return calls when I tried to inquire. My case seemed more of an inconvenience to him than it did a paying engagement, and I paid A LOT. All in all, a negative experience in an already tough situation, this experience just added to it.
