Click to report rating    8/26/15   1     1     1     1     1   Had a couple of patents with him which he basically didn't understand on any level, technically or any market potential. They also didn't make any $ since, let's face it, most IBM patents are for bragging rights of depts and managers. He'd be way out of his league if he had to understand inventions technically or business wise, so I would never recommend him. RID: 158660

Click to report rating    7/2/11   1     1     1     1     1   Basically a big company good ol' boy with very weak tech skills. Don't expect him to know your new app from a GUI or database or even an engine gasket. At Gateway he literally couldn't tell my systems app from a compiler, where his cluelessness was something of a running joke amongst IT people. He can be nice, but in a very false, political kind of way; expect him to play a lot of politics in a negative way with your work, like deflecting credit to others when it benefits him politically or dropping the ball in the legal process and blaming others. Get someone real and honest, not Mark Walker. RID: 47933
Click to report rating    1/4/10   2     3     3     2     3   Mark S Walker is a nice enough guy, very sociable and a good buzzword talker, but his tech understanding is way outdated to almost non-existent. You'll write your invention up, another dept will evaluate its technical merits since he won't really know what it is or what it's replacing, then it'll get bounced from the patent office multiple times from lack of proper preparation. (Expect a lot of vague, make-it-up answers.) Only later when I had other patent applications with small companies that employed younger, more aggressive tech savvy law firm IP attorneys, did I see how much better it could be done. So overall Mark Walker could be OK at a big company like IBM that has a big support staff and lots of internal politics but for a smaller tech company that needs it fast and right I'd look elsewhere.
