Unfortunately my first wife hired Mona to represent her and she did a really thorough job with that so I hired her to represent me in my divorce from wife #2. Mona took great care of me during that divorce. I have referred her to two of my friends and they have raved about her as well. Divorce is tough and there are truly no winners. You definitely want Mona on your side.

I couldn't have asked for a better attorney. She was there for me every step of the way. She did exactly what I needed her to do and it was done quickly and efficiently-- I definitely recommend Mona Shapiro.

In 1993, my son-on-law, a young Petty Officer in the Navy, sued for custody of his 18 month daughter. Mona Flax was his attorney. After an arduous 18 months (by this time the child was 3), he won total custody of her and moved to Arizona. Today, this young lady is an accomplished 24 year-old businesswoman. My son-in-law never saw evidence that she doesn't believe children should be place with fathers. My family has used Mona Flax's services for various domestic issues since 1992. She is a bulldog and will represent you well in a case. However, she knows the law and sometimes it isn't what we think. She is the best domestic attorney I have ever seen. At present, she is representing my husband in a custody case. Old? How about seasoned.

The difficult part about anonyomous rating website such as these is that people tend to be unfair, nasty, and post when they're upset. I wanted to paint an objective opinion about Mona so it is more helpful to the reader. Mona did work hard for client which was my ex wife, however; Mona always appeared court as though she was unprepared. She would typically resort to yelling or making baseless acqusations when she did not have a rebuttal. I know she charged my ex a tremendous amount of money because I would hear all of the complaints. Our divorce did not have to be so nasty and it started out ok but my ex did switch lawyers mid way through to Mona and it became messy after that. It was good news for me because Mona was a disaster in court and always looked lost, angry, and unprofessional (both in dress and speech) Overall, I'm glad for the switch but I know it set my wife back a good deal and it cost her a lot monetarily and in the divorce itself.

I just came to see if her work had improved over the years. I see that it has not at all. I came to her as a young mother, 22 years old, with an alcoholic abusive husband that was threatening to run off with our child. Multiple times she ignored my calls...HIS attorney actually intervened when it looked like he would do it. He destroyed my credit after the property settlement she wrote & said would clear me of responsibility to our house (I gave it up under her advice) didn't hold up to any scrutiny & he lost the property to foreclosure. She was constantly late, dismissive of my concerns & generally unprepared. I often, over the years, have thought Ms. Shapiro might have been 'going through something' at the time of my case & that was the reason for such neglect, now I see 20 years later, that this is just Ms. Shapiro.

Thousands of dollars later , she actually made my case worse . The apposing attorney actually commented that she felt Ms. Flax was on her side. Don't make the mistake I did by hiring and trusting her .

Her knowledge was very good. However, her work ethic and communication is severely lacking. She has had multiple complaints yet has never been reprimanded. If you have deep deep pockets she will give you all the attention you need. If you don't then be ready to be put on the back burner, she will show up un-prepared and frazzled. She doesn't want to hear your opinions or take them into consideration. She is extremely EGO driven and doesn't invest her time or energy appropriately. If she thinks you don't have enough money in your trust before she comes to court be prepared to lose due to her lack of preparing. She WILL throw you under the bus in front of opposing counsel and the Judge. I would NOT recommend her for anything above a traffic ticket.

She has a sense of humor, Because it was funny how much she charged. I lost my family dog due to arsenic poisoning. Sure I smacked my kids.. once or twice but who doesn't. Guys do have rights and women just need to be barefoot and pregnant.

It was a nightmare, halfway in to a divorce and custody battle she said I didnt have the right to question her and quit. She also said that fathers dont have the same right as women when it comes to children. I was shocked and heart broken, I gave every penny I had thinking she was a decent attorney. I got the feeling she just decided for her self what should be the out come and made it so.

I did not feel as though I was her #1 priority. She came late to court and only spoke to me once in person. She overbooked herself on the day of my hearing and I strongly believe that because of that, I was not given the proper representation due to the fact that no relationship was built.
