Joanne ten years later, I can call and she still remembers me, and takes the time to talk. I've never in my experience, seen Joanne act in any manner other than for kids in care. She is an amazing person, highly recommend.

Wow! I was really quite shocked to read so many negative comments. Joanne was AMAZING acting as my lawyer in all my family court proceedings. I have had to use her services twice over the course of my life. I have known her for almost 20 years now, and I have somewhat kept in touch with her. She was always very competent, knowledgeable, respectful and fought for my children and I, every step of the way. I would highly recommend her services. She is tough. She will fight for you and your children, as long as you follow her directions, and she has the best interests of the children at heart!

This person spoke directly to me twice in 3 years and claimed she knew me. She told the judge what I was saying in my personal counselling sessions she wasnt privy to- and she actually lied to the judge. She is a hypocrite- and I have heard her telling a different client the exact opposite of the information she gave me. She refuses to listen to the wishes of the children she is supposed to help- and instead often provides free legal advice to the other adult involved. I had to fire her and have her replaced- she made my daughter feel neglected and made my youngest feel her wishes were secondary to my oldest child. PLEASE IF she is assigned to your case and wish a resolution quickly (that doesnt involve your family being torn apart) - please have her replaced!

She started off as if she was on the side of the children and showed genuine concern for their safety. But quickly took the side of the alcoholic mother and worked in collaboration with her lawyer. The childerens concerns were no longer the focus and it was very apparent that the bias leaned toward the one person she was supposed to be protecting her clients ( the children ) from. Getting more involved with the financial aspects of the family law case then the wishes of the kids. Even the judge commented on the disservice the OCL inflicted on the children and their interests.

she is unprofessional,judgemental,and likes to attack parents,she really likes to attack parents that were raised by the children's aid society and thinks that if you were raised by the system your NOT A GOOD PARENT.

Joanne Ferguson did not bother to competently represent the minor children as OCL. She did not bother to consult with the parents and instead relied on unfounded statements of the complainant. She did not bother to consult with family members that had pertinant information. When in court she expected that the judge would naturally side with her even though she did not convey the wishes of the minor children she represented acurately. She was more interested in attacking the parents of the family than the interests of the children and prolonging the childrens emotional trauma. I was very disappointed to find that all of the horror stories that you read on the internet are actually based in fact by personal experience.

Joanne Ferguson was phenomenal in and outside of the courtroom. I likened her to a pit bull. She latched on and didn't let go! She was warm and caring and worked behind the scenes. Ms Ferguson was the only lawyer out of several I spoke with, where her first and primary issue was why I needed legal representation and NOT about fees. (ALL The others didn't want to hear why I needed legal help, their first concern was 'how am I going to pay them'.) I was stunned when I asked Joanne about her fees and her reply was, "We'll work that out later." She went to bat for me...and I'll never forget her. Bless her heart!
