Don’t do it!
Listen to and trust that little voice inside your head that’s telling you to run!
My case – a Dissolution of Marriage without Children was in the final ‘Mandatory Settlement Conference’ phase when I retained Hughes and Hughes.
Yet, not one single ‘Mandatory Settlement Conference’ was attended to by either my supposedly ‘dedicated attorney’ or any of their “staff attorneys.” Not one single hearing was attended on my behalf by either my supposedly ‘dedicated attorney’ or any of their “staff attorneys.” HOWEVER, I was billed for and paid to Hughes and Hughes $58,587 in a 10 month time period! – and I NEVER EVEN MET WITH MY ‘ASSIGNED ATTORNEY!”
The firm is too big. It’s a big system. I received duplicate emails, had to re-explain my case, at my expense (!) too many times to different attorneys and staff who were ‘assigned to my case.’ They avoided proceeding with any and all hearings on my behalf but instead repeatedly stated that they ‘needed more informat

Poor communication skills, very expensive, no itemized bills, rapid turnover of firms lawyers. Many forensic accountants will not work with the firm.

My ex-husband took me back to court so many times on child custody issues and the legal battle was weighing on my daughter and me. Lisa and her team not only handled all the legal issues but kept me focused on what was important to the case and not just emotional noise. In the time since my divorce, I have spun through a gamut of feelings on my failed marriage, my motherhood, my career--but never have I regretted having Lisa Hughes represent me. Her knowledge and tenacity provided me the opportunity to raise my daughter when my ex-husband had planned to take her and everything from me. She fought for me, despite the fact that I was defeated emotionally and could have easily let the system rip me up. She helped me to toughen up, and reminded me that my daughter needed me and that I could pull it all together and that I could make it. Trusting Lisa was the healthiest thing I have ever done for myself and my daughter. The majority custody that Lisa fought for and won for us may not have been common, but was crucial. I thank her for believing in me.

I hold Lisa accountable losing a "bifurcated" trial on the matter of by pre-marital business. Her husband, Bruce, and I agreed, but she over-ruled us both. She went to trial, allowed the other side to present their case when we had the burden to show preponderance of evidence to prove our case. Opposing counsel was allowed 3 days with their expert, I was only given 3 hours and was never allowed to rebut the so-called expert. I lost the trial which gave the Ex a shot at my pre-marital business valuation. But $650,000 later, 800 plus court filings, a Writ won (by another appellate attorney) to reverse the split of my company stock, another 22 day trial over the course of 30 days that was thrown out due to a Writ of Mandate and new trial order, a new judge only to be back at square one waiting for a new judge and new trial date. Strategy with Bruce led to Lisa going ballistic and writing me 2 nasty letters. Lisa has abysmal communication skills with client, staff, associates.

I have been through the Orange County Family Law Courts for the past 10 years dealing with two divorces. The custody, 730 evaluation, and financial issues are too numerous to list. I have gone through five attorneys but over the last four years, Lisa Hughes and her Firm have represented me and I feel compelled to share the experience. Lisa is the most knowledgeable, caring, and savvy attorney that I have come across. A move away where my daughter was headed to new Jersey was stopped in its tracks and most recently support and financial issues were argued in a way I had never seen. Lisa commanded respect in the court room and she left no stone unturned which was such a contrast to my past representation. FELT THAT I GOT OVER CHARGED ON MY SERVICES AS WHEN I SPOKE WITH OTHER PEOPLE, WHO HAD SIMULAR ISSUES, THEY GOT CHARGED A WHOLE LOT LESS MONEY THAN I DID. I FELT THE FIRM WAS OVER RATED.

Lisa and her firm handled my divorce involving child custody and support. I could not be more happy with the results; they got me everything that I wanted. The staff was always available when I had questions and they handled my case quickly and efficiently. Hughes and Sullivan is by far the worst law firm I have ever worked with - simply billing as much as they can for no work. I fired them after 2 weeks. They billed me for simply filling my case file and for me to teach them about my case through faxes. No legal advice, direction, or strategy. I am so glad I hired another firm.

Mrs. Hughes represented my case and my 10,000+ dollars. It was the worst money I ever spent on an attorney and by far the most expensive. I had yet to even get to court one time before her office was saying we wrer gonna need more money. Mrs. Hughes appeared in court only one time. On every other appearance she had her partner appear. I paid for Mrs. Hughes, not some other flunky attorney who destroyed my case and my child custody. This office was the worst experience of my life and I will say that it is my opinion but they are only about money. This attorney is so unethical that her own employees felt sorry for how bad she handled my case and told me so on several occasions. If YOU NEED A GOOD ATTORNEY DO NOT USE HUGHES AND SULLIVAN. YOU WILL ONLY LIVE TO REGRET IT AND IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE AND FAMILIES.
