These are my opinions.Singer was my lawyer in a long drawn out divorce. Drawn out because he can invoice more. He will fabricate information in hopes to win but instead makes things worse for you. In the end if you use this lawyer it will make things difficult for you. You will regret using him.

To people saying Jim is a bully. Give it a rest. You dont like to hear the truth. Jim tells it like it is; he doesnt sugar coat things, and he wins. His attenton to dtail and knowlefge of the law is extremely impressive; his organizational and prep skills are beyond and his ability to cross examine and get the truth is bar none. Not ONE real client who has hired Jim would say he was less than the best (unless you stiffed him or he told you the truth and you didn't like what he said but would you rather he lie and just take your money because sorry he does not do that). The guy answers client calls on weekends and evenings.
Give me a break. They dont make lawyers like him anymore.

Mr Singer was my fifth lawyer in a very complicated case with international aspect. The strategy he took was very helpful, and none of the previous attorneys thought to consider. He is very knowledgeable and he studied the case in depth to find a path for success.

In my opinion and as others here have said Mr. Singer is a bully. It is also in my opinion that he will draw legal proceedings out as long as possible so he can maximize his billing. In my opinion his agenda is to cause dissention not agreement in order to prolong closure. My impression of Mr. Singer is that of a spoilt child disrupting an adult conversation but that's just my opinion.

Mr. Singer, made a very difficult and unenjoyable experience comfortable. Everything negative I have heard about lawyers he quickly proved wrong. I found him to be a great listener and communicator of my values and worked hard to achieve the just goals at hand. Whenever I am given the opportunity I forward his information to my closest friends. Being in court sucks, but made easier with Jim's knowledge of the system and ethical drive to do what is right.

Have you ever met someone and immediately realize they have an intellect that simply reaches an entirely new level? Since Jim has been my lawyer, he accomplished more in the first few months, than my previous lawyers managed in 4 years. The only way you cannot rate Jim all 5's is if he's representing your ex and you are getting your come-uppins' from him. Or, the other possibility is that you need a mirror, because you are the problem. I deal with a lot of lawyers and Jim is without question the most honest and tenacious I have ever worked with. His billing is more than fair. He is there to get things settled quickly and his support at all hours of the day and week are what legends are made of. If all family lawyers had his skill sets then family law would not be the train wreck it is. You need to be very careful when choosing a lawyer. You want a lawyer who works towards a solution to your case and who is knowledgeable of the law for the area you are in. A lawyer who does not over charge. You want a lawyer who is respectful of all people and not a bully. Mr. Singer is not this type of lawyer. Don't believe all the soppy reviews below, find out for yourself. Check out some of the recent cases he has litigated.

I retained Jim 2 plus years ago. From day one Jim was extremely patient and showed me that he was extremely caring and had my best interest at heart. My situation was extremely complicated, very in depth, time consuming and required a lot of attention to detail. Jim made himself available at all times 24/7 it didnt matter what time of day it was. Jim is not a beat around the bush kind of man. He was straight with me but fought hard for everything that he knew that was important to me. If there was anything that I was uncertain of or needed clarification, Jim would explain it in such away that was clear and until I understood it.
He showed empathy and showed compassion when it was so needed at such a trying time in my life. I will forever be thankful for everything he did for me.
I would reccomend Jim singer to anyone who is in need of a knowledgeable experienced lawyer that will fight for you.

Jim is not my first lawyer. I knew what I wanted and needed - a lawyer that would take court procedures and protocol very seriously and provide me feedback and insight as my case progressed. Jim has provided me with great advice and added to his work ethic has been able to get me to where I needed to be. He's also a very nice person who makes me feel that he cares about his clients. I would recommend him to any of my friends or family members if they were to find themselves in position where they require Family Law Act assistance.

Jim Singer handled my case with the utmost professionalism. He addressed all of my concerns clearly and concisely and had my best interests in mind during the whole process. His fees are very reasonable and his knowledge of family law is remarkable. I am compelled to write this as a warning to victims of legal abuse by abominable lawyers as Jim - a preposterous crook. Scams his own clients under their noses. Comes to court unprepared without details of the case. He is unable to comprehend any financial matters. He may be suitable for simple matters (though there are much cheaper options and lawyers who can do the same in a fraction of the cost). After a year of unsustainable email exchanges amounting to nothing, and dodging of court, playing delay tactics, so he could pocket over 70K by over complicating matters, we finally made it to court; only he forgot all aspects of the case and fumbled and lost. I went to a much senior lawyer who could deal with the financial aspects. I do not recommend this lawyer for anything. He is a Real Estate lawyer and makes a very poor family lawyer. Also check the facebook page of Rose Ballotta Richmond Hill - who he cites as his advocate below. It's a fake profile.

Jim represented me during a long and uncomfortable family law case. He was extremely well versed in all aspects of my case from start to end, despite the duration and massive amount of detail involved. His knowledge of family law is excellent, he's a compassionate and understanding guy and I felt like he had my best interests at heart throughout the whole ordeal. I'm not sure about those posting negative comments about Jim here, I can only assume they are being posted by someone that has no experience whatsoever with him, perhaps by someone's ex doing their best to damage his reputation. 5 stars for Jim.

I am in shock and in disbelief with some of the low ratings and bad reviews on this site regarding Mr.Singer. The only reasonable explanation is that this person was most likely on the side of the table. As far as I know James is extremely knowledgeable of the Family Law, a man of integrity and compassion and tries to keep within your budget means. All you need to do is go with a reasonable plan and Mr.Singer will definitely help you execute it! Would I recommend Mr. Singer to my family and friends? Absolutely 100% YES!

This is a lawyer of integrity. He answers all his phone calls all hours of the day. He explains things according to the clients level of understanding fully until he is understood. He has the best interest of his client at hand. He is to the point and very respectful I definitely would hire him again.He earns his wage and is worth it.Thank you Jim for all your hard work. A process server showed up at my house along with my wife and two policemen and handed me court document called motion without notice. I was shocked and did not know what to do. I met Mr. Singer at his office he took his time to view one of the worst divorce documents to be served upon you ,in my case this document restricted my ability to accesses any of my bank accounts or my credit cards. Mr. Singer was kind and very supportive he accepted my case knowing my bad financial situation, he understood the case and explained to me with simple English to what we needed to do. Mr. Singer throughout my case was always on time never missed a court day never misplaced any documents. He always tried to save me money by shortening unnecessary arguments but always protected my interest. The outcome of my case was very satisfactory, no winners in divorce. But having an experienced and professional lawyer beside me helped me to feel safe and protected.

Oh please Jim; you must think everyone is a fool and can't see past the glaring obvious ratings of yourself. Get over it. People can see you for what you are. And your reviews of yourself demonstrate your character well. You're living a fool's paradise in your own cloud. My case finally resolved thanks. to the honesty of the two lawyers who worked together to resolve matters. It was a compromise and all that toxic battle you conjured up didn't do a thing. I recommend others to find an honest knowledgeable senior lawyer and resolve your matters in a mutually cooperative manner. Stay away from crooks like Jim, who love to create a smokescreen, only to mask the looting that goes on behind it.You'll find you will get nowhere with this one and he will rob you of hundreds and thousands - and will keep going. Promising a lot, getting nothing. He makes Saul Goodman (in Breaking Bad) look like an angel.

I don't know where to begin but I can tell you if it wasn't for Jim knowing exactly what to do and how to move quickly I would have been up the creek without a paddle. Divorce is a difficult thing to go through but it was a nightmare for me because I was dealing with a crazy spouse who was out to get me. Thanks to Jim I managed to secure my home and continue to raise my daughter there. He is worth every penny.

Mr. Singer is trustworthy. Not only being professional, considerate, and knowledgeable, but he also reply your requests and attends to the urge of your case in a timely manner every time even out of his business hours. He is very patient and actively listens to concerns, putting himself in your shoes to find the best solution for the case. He is very fair and put child’s best interests first. One of the many reasons that he gained respect not only from clients but also from judges and other lawyers that he had worked with. He handles the case in the most cost effective way because he understands divorce is a very process that puts people under both emotional and financial stress. When he goes to the court, he is always well-prepared and skillful to negotiate with confidence. Beware of bad reviews. Looks like few were written by my husband, as he did not have Mr. Singer representing him. Mr. Singer has shown complete compassion and ethics. He came highly recommended from 3 different people. Mr. Singer is very fair, he does not over charge as other lawyers do, who pass off half of their work to younger lawyers and still over bill by the hour rather than minute. I have been to court a few times with Mr. Singer and came out feeling assured and ahead. He keeps things on focus and tried to be more than fair to both parties.

After using another lawyer who was constantly wasting time in expensive back and forth correspondance with no results so I retained James. What a difference!!! My request was to come to "end of job" and this is exactly what he did. Works hard for his clients including weekends when needed, filters the "noise" and focuses on getting to end of job for clients, is very fair when negotiating, truly cares about keeping costs down and getting the "job done" with the judges and courts. He also works well with other lawyers so when it comes to move the needle forward he is able to do so. I also have seen him in front of judges multiple times and they respect him as being a fair lawyer. I would absolutely challenge anyone that does not feel this way as I recommended Jim to family and friends and everyone walked away happy with him.

Getting divorce is a very stressful process and JS was very patience and took the time to listen to my frustrations and talk me thru them with sound advice. Mr Singer was my attorney for the entire 7 years of my divorce proceedings. I found him to be focused, methodical and pragmatic. Not only was he knowledgable, but he always presented my position with conviction and passion in court. We just concluded a one-month long trial. Mr. Singer went up against a team of lawyers, and accountants who were present for the most part the entire time in court. After it was all said and done, I ended up winning on virtually every issue that was being litigated. My fees were reasonable and I received professional and fair service with out the gouging that big name firms in Toronto would typical charge. My file was large and very complex. Mr. Singer was very organized in delivering my case to ensure that justice prevailed. I truly believe we did well in court because Mr. Singer was able to keep cool while I was losing my mind. Mr. Singer was able to use his wit in exposing the lies of my ex while in court. We are friends post court.

Jim Singer was my divorce lawyer from start to finish. He won my case and got the court to recognize that I was the real owner of a rental property. I can undoubtedly say that he is a skilled lawyer. JIm made every effort to advise me of the legal costs at each stage, explaining and weighing various options in such a way so as to minimize my costs and maximize my chances. I am quite surprised to see negative reviews…and by the similarity in which they are written it looks to me that perhaps it is the same person writing different reviews under a different name. Jim was the opposite of the conduct the complainant is alleging. . I have recommended Jim to other people and they have all been grateful for it.

Mr. Singer is a lawyer but it would be more appropriate to call him a bully. As a lawyer he has no concept of what is just or fair. In the end his billing is high for what you get in return. Jim was recommended by a friend and turned out to be just what I was looking for in a lawyer. He is a no nonsense, honest, experienced and knowledgeable lawyer who will tenaciously defend your interests. He always got back to me within 24 hrs or less and went out of his way to meet with me even after hours and on weekends. The thing I liked most is that Jim handled my case himself and didn't hand it off to some inexperienced rookie like most other law firms do. His fees are very competitive and reasonable. He managed to keep me away from trial and wrapped up my case in just over a year despite a very difficult and stubborn ex. If you want a lawyer that is precise and to the point, you should give Jim a call. If you want someone to stroke your emotional ego, look elsewhere.

I hired James Singer to be my lawyer for my divorce and custody case a few years ago, and I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer. He always answers my emails, makes time to meet with me, and prepares for cases so that he knows all the details in order to present in court with confidence; and trust me, it's obvious that he is prepared. I've seen other lawyers who just can't come close to matching his presentation skills. He really gets to know his clients and stands up for them to get them what they want, and more importantly, what they deserve. I trusted him with the most important thing in my life - getting custody of my child - and he did that for me. I highly recommend him if you want a lawyer who is respected by judges, has a lot of experience and knowledge, and cares about your family.

Mr. Singer represented me in my divorce. He was my 4th lawyer and before hiring him I had lost all hope. At our first meeting Mr. Singer assured me he would be my final lawyer to represent my divorce. After taking over my case everything changed for the best. Mr Singer never reviews cases or files properly. He is disorganized and never refamiliarizes himself with the current case he is working on. Hiring a lawyer in the delicate case of divorce should ease tension and stress and having had Mr Singer represent me has only caused me more stress and chaos. He wants easy not what is right. He doesn't address all pertinent issues and never meets deadlines, except when it comes to topping up his fee. The amount of extra work I have had to do that he as my lawyer should have done is disgusting and a hard lesson for me. I will never ever refer him to anyone. His rude, berating, arrogant manner lacks the objectiveness that a divorce attorney should have. He requires schooling in people skills and manners, and time management in addition to following a set formula of reviewing the case he would be currently working on before he opens his mouth or types a letter or email.

This guy competes himself with top ranked very expensive lawyers, but can't even come close. He doesn't have the charisma, ethics nor the sophistication he needs to go to trial or represent his clients. He will push his clients with his undue aggression and his bullying tactics to court and then to trial, making matters worse between the parties. A horrible excuse for a lawyer! Mr. Singer IS quite the bully as the previous review states. He seems knowledgeable but definitely needs to improve his communication style in the courtroom and towards others. Even the judge was surprised at some of the answers if lack of appropriate answers he stated on behalf of his client.
