Ben Ingram is a terrible greedy and lazy lawyer. He was the opposing lawyer in my case but I can tell you that during a complex 17 day trial he shuffled a few papers the whole time in the court room while my lawyer referred to binders and binders. At the end I was awarded 80 percent of my court costs as well as spousal and child support. I also got sole custody and an order that my child could not leave the country with my ex but could with me giving me full control of the passports. Just before trial we divided the properties but almost 5 years later I discovered that I could not get a mortgage or sell one of the properties because he hadn't done his job and release the CPL on it. I contacted his office and was told after nearly two weeks of run around and no call backs that he will not do anything about that because he no longer acts for my ex. If you want a lawyer like that defending you then go ahead and use him. I should tell you that I am a male.

Ben Ingram is a superb, extremely knowledgeable, personable and professional lawyer. In my family matter, Mr. Ingram cleverly used his negotiating ability to settle and avoid going to trial against a very well know difficult lawyer, which saved me thousands of dollars and the stress of going to a lengthy trial. On top of this, Mr. Ingram was able to negotiate a settlement in my favor, 250k over what I was advised by several top and well know lay firms, in the event my matte went to trial. I definitely recommend Ben Ingram to anyone looking for a top Family Lawyer.

I had a very complex family matter that most family lawyers were hesitant to accept. Ben accepted the file, and did an excellent job in helping me resolve the matter and defend against a totally unfounded common law spousal claim. I remember that during the discoveries, he was very protective of me when the other lawyer, who was a very rude and ruthless man was being abusive to me in his questioning. I must say I am surprised by the negative comments here as they do not, in any way, represent my experience with or impression of Ben. He was a true gentleman - and well, legal fees for good lawyers is never cheap.

Ben is an efficient, honest, dependable and realistic lawyer with the gift to wrap things up when the timing is fair for the family involved. Divorce is such a challeging time for everyone and having a lawyer (and staff) who I could reky on was time and money-saving. His advice, compassion, sense-of-humour and professionalism made my process bareable. I would highly recommend Ben Ingram and his staff for complicated divorce settlements.

I was referred to Ben by a girlfriend who got divorced last year and used him. Talk about someone who knows his legal stuff!!! He's very level headed and pragmatic. I really liked how calm he was, even when my ex kept throwing obstacles in the way. I also really liked that he prioritized my children and what was in their best interest. I didn't enjoy getting divorced, but it was easier with Ben behind me.

I totally agree with many of the same concerns expressed here. This lawyer has antagonized, provoked and prolonged a very simple case, to a complex and continues court battles(over a year). He has wasted hundreds of thousands dollars, bringing the parties to the verge of bankruptcies only to enrich himself. He is master of manipulation and he is resentful. He is a predator and preys on the gullible, naive and vulnerable client. He turns every occasion-to negotiate a settlement-into a very hostile and ugly situation. He is a disgrace to all family and divorce lawyers. I am appalled and wish there was some kind of accountability or medium to prevent this man from taking advantage of the judicial system. I want The Law Society of BC to look into his conduct and prevent him from continuing to harm people. I love to hear from other people who might have similar experiences with this lawyer. This guy is one of the worst family lawyer I have ever encountered. He thrives by giving wrong advice, throwing away any hope for harmony, mediation and settlement. He has no scruples. The only thing he cares is to make money by creating a hostile atmosphere, unnecessary prolonging the case between the involved parties, tying up the legal system with needless court appearances. So pathetic and sad! Lawyers like him are harming our community. He is a disgrace to good family and divorce lawyers. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this man as the only thing he cares is robbing you as much as he can.

This lawyer has inflamed a simple property sale into a 6 figure lawsuit with over a year of continual court appearances. He has insulted mediation saying the only way to protect a client is in front of a judge. He ignores offers to negotiate, and uses the punitive expenses of the court system to his advantage to attempt to intimidate lay people who cannot afford fees to fight him. He is the worst possible example of a manipulative lawyer who does not act in the best interests of his client - only in the ongoing best interest of his invoices for fees. This man gives all divorce lawyers a bad name. He is vengeful, vindictive, and manipulative. He turns every opportunity to negotiate a settlement into a court battle. He is reckless with his facts, and ties up the legal system with needless court appearances.

Ben files books dates in court cancels them repetedivly rebooks then doesn't coordinate with other council. then re requests documents already provided and appears to be unfamiliar with the case at court time. unprofessional, cost inflator and overbilling.

This was not at all my experience. Ben was totally upfront and very up-to-date on both case law and what I should expect. The reality is that divorce is messy, feelings are fractious and there has to be a sense of fair play. Ben was efficient, supportive and first class all the way.

I share many of the same concerns already voiced here. I feel Ben really didn't do anything for me and has left me in a huge financial mess. He'll tell you what you want to hear in the inital meeting but will do very little to help you. He was unfamiliar with my case during follow-up phone calls, his staff made many errors in the communications, and he will mislead you to take inappropriate actions. I am hoping there is something that can be done to stop this man. I would like to hear from others that have the same concerns. Ben is only in the game for the good of one person. HIMSELF! Lots of bad advice and empty promises have left me with nothing but an unfair settlement and huge payments to my ex-wife. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this guy.

Ben served my sons and I in a family law case involving mental illness and assorted mayhem from a very aggressive & intransigent mother. He was and is superb. Ben helped me to stay focused on the result, which was not to simply “win”, but to get the best agreement across the finish line. I learned that, like it or not, family law is a stepwise process, it involves a measure of costs and benefits, and costs money. // I read the complaints, and as a university professor, I know that it is often the bitter and lost who blame others in online assessments, doing so rather than taking a sober look in the mirror. I trust and am grateful to Ben; he also made personal financial sacrifices to amend and correct errors made by a junior person formerly employed at his firm. // If you want an attack dog on your leash, get another lawyer.If you want superb professional legal guidance, which includes sometimes telling you what you may not want to hear, yet which advances your just case, retain Ben.

Ben had my divorce case for 8 months. Due to a combination of wrong advice, and failure to follow instructions, he gave my ex about $50,000 MORE than HER demands, while setting me up for legal costs of a additional $50,000. Beliving anything he says is a mistake, which cost me dearly. By all accounts, it appeared that he didn't even look at my case file until about a week before trial, to spite having cost me about FIVE times what he said it would cost me for his legal fees. Ben changed his story about my position just days before trial to spite having all the same info for the past eight months. Do not hire this Lawyer
