Sheena Laird is amazing. I was so grateful and thrilled that she was willing to take my case. It was complicated and being paid for by Legal Aid. The other party was unreachable and had to be served. She preemptively dealt with any issues that might arise so that both parties felt at ease throughout the whole process. From the moment she accepted my case, she treated me with the utmost kindness and respect. I was shocked at how quickly things were addressed and how she communicated with me so promptly and efficiently. Sheena never left me wondering or worrying. She didn't listen, nor did she give me a change to talk, when I tired to explain what I was looking for. Instead she was just pushing her own agenda so that she could make money. I'd already done my research and I tried to tell her this. Instead she pushed for a zoom meeting to have a consultation. I ended up cancelling this at the last minute when it became apparent that she wasn't going to tell me anything I hadn't already heard. This was a referral through Morneau and Shepell and I suspect she was trying to manipulate the situation so she could get paid by them and get money out of me when, by the way, she didn't have enough time to tell me everything within the half hour that M&S would pay her. A waste of time and a lot of phone calls. She also left a lot of messages on my phone. I have a busy job. Just give me a chance to get back to you. Spare yourself the time, aggravation and money.

Sheena is an incredibly empathetic lawyer who approached the separation agreement in the utmost professional and efficient way possible. She is attentive, thorough and extremely knowledgeable in the process and is happy to share with you the next steps to avoid any ambiguity of what's to come. My experience with her was nothing but positive. Sheena made herself available to respond to emails and phone calls where it was needed. She often times initiated the discussions herself and was attentive to my questions. I highly recommend Sheena for family/common law issues!! Sheena was the 3rd lawyer I worked with for my divorce. Not only was she able to explain exactly what I could expect from her, my ex's counsel and the court, she did so with kindness. Sheena was SO prompt to get information to me and kept me in the loop as she received more information so I didn't need to chase, wonder or be concerned. I knew everything was handled by a professional who had my best interest at heart, always. Sheena has become and will remain my lawyer of choice. I would highly recommend Sheena Laird! She is helpful, personable and knowledgeable. She has amazing communication skills and answered all of my questions (and I had many!). She was very clear in documents I needed tp provide and offered solutions and options for me. She really is great to deal with and I would not hesitate to use her again or refer her. I've been working with Sheena, for 7 years now on my very nasty divorce and custody battle. She was supportive, helpful, honest and straight forward, she tried all ways to save me money and was always extremely helpful. Her friendly service, smile and optimism supported me in quite a few difficult moments. I have recommended her to friends and acquaintances and they have all come out happy clients, well as happy as you can be coming from a divorce. She was more than fair in price, she would often send me emails just to keep me posted on where we were at and would not bill me. She was always one step ahead with all the documentation and was quite flexible with payment options. I would recommend her without batting an eye.

Ms Laird was willing to give me a lesser rate, which I thought was kind. Instead of $300/hr! I explained in detail what my intentions were to get child support owing for my daughter. She refused to follow my instructions, instead, she decided to send emails, faxes, calls...all which ended up costing me over $1500. Not one positive thing came out of this. She never even got my original 2006 agreement updated, so FRO could collect the current amount. She did absolutely nothing to get me ahead. After I complained to her directly, she decided to drop me like a hot potato. The people that suffer the most in family cases are the children...she ensured that would happen. DO NOT pick her, you will so regret it.
