My case did wind up costing more than the retainer, but that was because of 2 main factors: 1. I thought my name was on title to our house and it wasn't (Mr. Kremer fixed that, quickly) and 2. my spouse was a nightmare! It was explained to me that if both sides were reasonable, costs and fees would be reduced. Well, the other side was not reasonable and fees increased (but they wound up paying a goodly portion of my fees, thanks to good lawyering). I'd refer my best friend to Mr. Kremer.

I feel I was well represented by Matthew Kremer. Communication was good and he did not waste time or money. He even talked me out of pursuing one issue, explaining that he thought we'd win but the cost wouldn't be worth it. He was absolutely right.

Mr. Kremer took over a very difficult case from my old attorney and very quickly got things on track. I was very pleased with the outcome and found the fees to be reasonable. His staff was great. I have to think the negative comments are either from competition that want to discourage people from hiring this very fine attorney or someone with an axe to grind.

Mr. Kremer will give a free consultant and he sounds like very simple case. When you agree and put down the retainer fee, your case will get worse. I have him served me in the past and my case turned out a nightmare. All bad comments are true.

Mr. Kremer likes to take and waste retainers even when he knows that he does not have the experince or tenacity to handle the case. There are simple things that a paralegal could have handled better than he did. Very sorry I wasted my time and money. Ultimately he wrecked a simple case and billed out 3 times the $4000 retainer. Stay away from this legal weasel. Other bad ratings are very accurate.

MY experience with Matt Kremer was very good. He is quite knowledgable about the law and legal process. His staff is excellent. I felt he did what he could to prevent fees from getting out of control. I later referred my sister to him; they did a great job for her, as well. I'd recommend Mr. Kremer to anyone in a divorce or family law situation.

I was surprised to read those other comments. I found Mr. Kremer, and his staff, to be highly knowledgeable. He is ethical and did his best to save me money. He obtained a very good outcome for me in a difficult case with a difficult ex and difficult attorney on the other side. I retained him based upon referral (from someone he had OPPOSED in the past) and checked his rating, which is very high (A-v, the highest).

Neither Mr. Kremer nor his staff return phone calls in a timely manner or communicate well. He will make absolutely sure he uses all of his retainer before trying to finish the case. Issues that could be resolved in one 5 minute phone call instead require 5 or 6 e-mails (which he calls "letters"), charged at $40-60 each. For example, I e-mailed him for advice about spousal support, since my husband was balking at paying it. His e-mailed response was, "This could be a deal breaker." Well, DUH! After two more e-mails on the subject, he still hadn't given me a definitive answer. But I paid for every e-mail! He can be very condescending. His legal assistant only works a couple of days a week, so if you are not available on those days, you are out of luck. I paid Mr. Kremer several thousand dollars and still had to finish the case myself. I would not hire this lawyer or refer anyone to him.
