Separation and Divorce is amongst the most difficult things a person can go through. Jeff was extremely professional and calm during this event. I hired Jeff for an appeal based on reviews. This was a huge mistake. Jeff is terrible at responding in a timely manner. He waited until the very last minute to file the appeal. On the day of the hearing, he was ill prepared, messed up the facts and was just an embarrassment based on his presentation. He was a complete waste of time and my hard earned money. Not surprisingly, we lost the appeal due to Jeff’s lack of effort and knowledge of the details of the case. He assured me that I had a strong case for an appeal and once he received the retainer, his position on the matter changed. Not only was I out the legal fees, suffered the loss of the appeal but I was forced to pay costs that he agreed to with opposing counsel without my approval. He gives lawyers a bad name.

My family was blessed to have Jeff's help resolving a very complicated and potentially very dangerous international custody dispute back in 2014. I saw a fairly misleading negative review that someone put for Jeff. While I was originally planning to leave a review after my current case is fully done, probably a year from now, I’ll write about my experience now since it’s been a pleasure having Jeff as my lawyer.
I contacted Jeff two years ago - at the time I had nobody to go to given my financial situation, but Jeff understood my situation and agreed to help nonetheless. Jeff comes across as a genuine person, it was clear to me from the beginning that he genuinely cares about his clients and their well-being. He had a personal invested interest to see that I got and get what I deserve. He’s very honest and fair and will tell you his true opinion about every situation and the possible outcome, he’s very transparent about the process. He opened my eyes to the rights I have as a woman and a mom, which I was never privy to, he went out of his way to teach me all of them (keeping me involved in the process as much as possible).

Jeff has an aptitude for reading situations and identifying the correct approach for the moment. When things were tense and contentious in my divorce he was adept at preventing negotiations from escalating. At the same time, he knew when to assert and leverage our position to help me reach a favourable settlement. Jeff is a very ethical individual who takes into consideration the impact the divorce has on a child, looks to reason with the opposing lawyer to avoid going to court and is very ethical when it comes to billing. Jeff was great to work with, I always felt that he had my best interests in mind, and never tried to 'shaft' my ex, still my kids mother. The end was fair, relatively painless (I figure as good as can be for family law), and both sides were satisfied. Jeff represented me in court a few times after my ex-husband, another lawyer, had been giving me an expensive run-around for years with the other three family law lawyers I had hired previously. This guy is not afraid to show his teeth to the judge. He is highly intelligent person. He is not always easy to reach, but he does get to you timely. One quality I know he has that he WILL NOT lay down in front of the judge he will argue and argue. This is the fourth lawyer I have hired over the course of last 6 years and by far the best. I believe eve I would have had full custody by now if he represented me from the beginning. I would for sure recommend him to my friends.

No other attorney would have had the patience and strategy that Jeff had. I say patience because he had to help me not be afraid to do what is right and to be assertive and that took a while to achieve. He believes in doing what is RIGHT for the child, personalizing his approach for each case. This lawyer was a total nightmare. Despite my repeated instructions, he failed to do some basic things, and as a result, my three children and I are without a car, all utilities about to be cut off, and will soon be homeless. The "other side" are wealthy with unlimited funds to end this. I should have changed lawyers early on, but by the time I realized how bad this one was, he held so much of my money I could not afford to change. He has now taken about $90K from us, and has not had ONE SINGLE POSITIVE RESULT. After four years, our support has gone down 85%, I have had to file a consumer proposal which then fell through, and my children and I have had to use food banks. He has literally destroyed any lives we once had, when his job was to protect us. At times he would go weeks without responding to any communication from me at all. I feel he has been negligent, and now have to explore what I can do about it. Ours has to be one of the saddest stories ever, and my own lawyer caused it.

When I started my family law proceeding I felt helpless and distraught. I had difficulty getting a grip on what was going on and could hardly make it through the day.
