I would like to apologize for my English, it is not very good since I am from Ukraine. Mike Cook knows his stuff very well. It makes no difference to him who he works with, whether you are from Ukraine or India, it makes no difference. When I first came to him, I told him my case, I saw in his eyes an understanding of my situation and a desire to help. I really liked: 1) at the first meeting they didn’t talk about money, he just agreed to get down to business. 2) there was always a connection with him when I wanted it. 3) they refused to drop the charges many times, but he did not stop and looked for new ways. 4) there is an understanding of my financial situation. I proposed a payment system, he simply agreed as a human being. 5) he sincerely rejoiced with me about our victory ! It was a very difficult time, but with honest people.

Mike is hands-down *the best* criminal lawyer in Manitoba and quite possibly one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. He has literally saved my life against several egregious and false charges (and on a legal aid certificate that I know is grossly underpaid). All I can say, MC is an angel on earth. His rating should be all 5s (note that most are). Team awesome!

Mike Cook has been my sons lawyer for a few years. He is amazing, he is fantastic at responding to Emails, even late at night or on weekends, and has made sure my son has received very fair deals, working closely with the crown as well as the family. I have know Mike cook for 30 years. Since I was a teenager. Mike is a good lawyer, and genuinely cares about his clients. He helped me out and guided me when I was young and kept me outta jail then. Jump to 28 years later . I caused a bit of trouble and needed mike again. In our meeting I told him that I was quite embarrassed about my actions. Mike and I have always run into each other at Jet and bomber games and various functions. Through social media we were able to follow each other’s families. He has become like a big brother to me. He saw that was upset and came around the desk to give a huge hug and let me know that things will be okay. Yes, I have consequences to face. But , he eased my pain. I advised him what I wanted to do. In turn, he told me my decision was the best for me . I had some concerns about timing for my sentencing, Mike influence, and long standing relationship with the crown helped me get through some times You need a lawyer Mike Cook is your man ! Ty

mike cook is probably one of the worst Lawyers i have personally ever dealt with unless you are paying him money he really doesnt give a crap about you , my fiance is in prison on a false charge ! and he still has not done anything to get him out, i have personally left many voice mails , emails and tried to meet with him in person! however he will not return any type of communication! like i said if you are paying this guy money he doesnt not give a CRAP!. he is a horrible human being.

I don’t know where to begin but definitely if I ever know of anyone who requires professionalism as well as prompt service this is the man to see in Winnipeg Manitoba. He responds to phone calls emails and any questions immediately . I had made a huge mistake in my life in and this man, Mike Cook definitely helped me correct it professionally . I was given Mr Cook's name and he saved me from a potential charge that would have crippled my livelihood. My charge, my first ever, was a driving infraction. It was very serious. My recent experience as Mike Cook’s client (April, 2017) contrasts greatly with the pejorative feedback on this site. After previously firing two other lawyers, I learned about Mike through one of his repeat clients, who had nothing but good things to say about him. We soon met face-to-face. He understood my situation immediately, and assured me that the outcome would likely be positive. Mike knows the system, back-to-front. He solved "bumps" like bail variations, so that I could travel before the related court dates. Mike always responded to my concerns in very short order, and always treated me with positive respect. While Mike’s fees aren’t cheap, they were well worth it - you get what you pay for. I now live a life of freedom, peace and future possibility. Along with his strong, seasoned legal acumen, Mike's biggest assets are his cultivated, respected relationships with the players in the justice system. I started reading some comments and a few were less than positive. I started laughing because as we all know, people complain a lot but, people don't give praise when it is due. So, after I settled down, and kept reading, I saw that there were actually some people who do take the time to give a good review. About Mike Cook: I think he's a quite experienced lawyer, and specializes in criminal defence law. I needed Mike Cook's help at a time when my world came crashing down, and I thought I had no way out of a situation that made me look to be in the wrong but was actually the reverse. I asked around and over and over, Mike Cook's name was given to me. I met with him. He's totally committed to his clients, he's respected within the legal community and the police department too! He listened, told me options, his retainer was completely fair unlike some horror stories I've heard about lawyers who charge exorbitant fees. At court, everyone just gravitated to Mike Cook, and we won!

Unless you are planning on pleading guilty and looking for a deal with the crown, do NOT hire Mike Cook. You would probably be better off with a fresh out of school legal aid duty counsel lawyer. Mike will NOT prepare you for the trial. When I say he doesn't return phone calls, I mean he will literally not return your calls for months. He will schedule appointments and then a day before will cancel and force you to wait longer, then when you finally do get to see him, he will spend the entire appointment time trying to talk you into pleading guilty and taking a "deal" with the crown. Also, please keep in mind that the judge is not bound by any prosecutor defense counsel deal and can sentence you to whatever he likes. I'd also like to add that I'm an educated White person in case you might be thinking that he only treats aboriginals this way. Mike Cook is a lazy hack of a lawyer who just wants an easy paycheck without having to do much work. If you intend to fight, get a real lawyer.

Mike Cook, should not be allowed to practise law. I hired Mike Cook to defend me on three charges. He requested on our first meeting $2,000.00 retainer. I gave him a $1,000.00. And the matter was set for trial. A month before trial I reached out to Mr.Cook by phone, by going to his office. He would never return calls or reachout to me to set a time to meet. The trial was set go in a month. Mike Cook, never prepared me for the trail. And, on the day of the trial. Mike Cook, informed me at court two of the charges would be dropped and i would plead guilty to one. Now, that’s not what i paid for or what I wanted. Mike Cook did not inform me the prosecutor would be asking for 3 months jail. However, the judge (Newcombe) at the time thought the prosecutor request was ridiculous. The judge said 3 months was uncalled for, and imposed a small fine. Mike Cook, is sellout. And a dangerous person.

You will not be disappointed should you hire Mike to represent you. My charges were dropped as a result of his counsel and advice.
