Here’s the real truth before hiring Cynthia she will give you a horrific horror story and try to show she compassionate and understanding. That this case (escarpment, where the man and child dies) is just like yours and I understand where you’re coming from. Her approach is exactly how one man reviews . To do what the other party wants to satisfy them (who is she working for) gives unreasonable extensions, doesn’t provide you with updates when she receives them. You’ll only get them if you ask for them. If the court orders OCL involvement you’ll have to call them yourself to get updates because you won’t get them from her. Is she defending you or working for the other party (the criminal) Unprepared, unorganized and doesn’t return calls and always out of town!! DONT hire her especially if a child is involved because their life is in danger!!! Your better off representing yourself then hiring Cynthia!!! Except to be waiting a few years to get any results and don’t expect much!! Horrible

I was in an abusive marriage and terrified when I came to her. My ex had made so many threats and was constantly trying to control me. I was afraid for myself and the kids. Working with Ms. Lauer, I mapped out a plan to escape. She immediately helped me to start an urgent court application and communicated with his lawyer. She made sure that we stayed safe throughout the process. It took some work and we had to bring a motion to the court, but she was able to resolve the financial issues and get me my share of the house proceeds, and the kids and I were able to move into our own place. I've been through an ordeal, but she was supportive the whole way and now we are living new lives without the constant fear and violence. She also immediately dealt with my ex's threat to deny me a religious divorce, and with the help of the judge's warnings, he realized that he had to cooperate.

Family Law: This lawyer has butchered my case to unrepairable damage. In other words, I even lost my share of the house completely. She has been on my case for 4 years and ruined everything. Her approach is to do what the other party is asking for because that will satisfy them and she believes this will move the case to an end. In realty, you will be very disatisfied and feel like a failure. So, NOTHING in your interest will she consider. Makes numerous mistakes. She makes you feel so helpless and not reassuring of anything. You will be going to bed with sleepless nights if she is your lawyer. She apparently is very religious(Judaism) and takes many out of country vacations. You'd figure someone dedicated to their religion would have a heart and help you. This is one of those people. This is to name just a few things, I walked away with nothing. She won't defend you and you will feel so insecure. Stay away and I hope your case gets resolved fairly. Good luck whoever you are.

Lacked knowledge and initiative in our very first meeting. Definitely failed to understand my case and what I was asking her to do. She didn't answer emails unless she was up in the middle of the night, and didn't answer urgent or important questions properly. She had a nasty habit of procrastinating on my case, and often left documents and correspondence unfinished until the last minute. Her documents were full of outdated or factually inaccurate info, including contested financial figures from opposing counsel. Her work ethic was laughable (hardly in the office, always showing up late) and the work she produced was so poor, I couldn't use it. The one-star reviews mentioning "lack of response", "backbilling" and "failure to understand basic Family Law concepts" are accurate based on my experience with her. Don't waste your time with this one.

She was my second lawyer, I chose her because the rate and financial pressure, but she is very weak and lake of clear strategy on complex issues. lake of response, the process was long and i was not sure she knows her stuff, do not feel get enough legal protection from her. agreed most of criticizes here.

If I could rate lower than a "1", I would. Lauer is simply not a lawyer. When she took my case, she assured me we would make progress in a quick and reasonable manner. During that time, she failed to request my file, failed to understand my case, failed to produce work and took an extended vacation without prior notice. She never answered my questions or emails, and consistently showed up late to her own appointments at her own office. Her primary motivation was money, and she tried to backbill me as soon as she possibly could (a huge red flag). I had to find a new lawyer almost immediately - she was beyond incompetent and almost destroyed my case. Her so-called services were a complete waste of time. Do not hire her. You'd be better off representing yourself in court.

Cynthia took on my custody case right before it was going to trial and ramped up very quickly. She proved to be an excellent trial lawyer and won my case including fees. I would not hesitate to give her my highest recommendation for any family law matter.
