In 2008 we had a consult with this "attorney" - he wanted a $300 consult which we have a receipt for showing "paid." When we finally came up with the money he wanted we called and called and called him. Left many messages, no response. Went to his office - seemed CLOSED down. Took us about two months to get in touch with him - when we did, he demanded the $300 fee we already paid, then threatened to go after us if we reported him to the bar. Somewhere I still have his threatening letter-we were going to report him b/c we had deadlines that were missed. He claimed he had back to back federal trials and lost his office manager. Bologna! So you don't follow up with phone calls> We should have reported him. According to Pinellas County records, he was arrested in January 2011 for Possession of: TAMOXIFEN CITRATE, BUPRENORPHINE HYDROCHLORIDE, RITALIN, CITALOPRAM HYDROBROMIDE and a DWLSR.

Randall Shanafelt was suspended by the Florida Bar, January 2012. Lady Karma paid him a much needed visit. He cannot hurt and use people anymore.

He took our money, made promises and strung us along. Lied to us many times. Wouldn't return calls or emails, would cancel appointments with 20 minutes notice or not show up at all. Lots of excuses..computers were down, he was sick, kid was sick, whatever. When we said we were going to get another attorney he said we were almost done so don't quit yet. Didn't file motions he told us he would, didn't make calls he promised he would, he never would tell us what he was charging us an hour, though we asked many times. We would give him money and he would "work off of that" but never gave us reports so we could tell where we were financially with him. No contract. MONTHS later, and more money later, we dropped the case that should have been simple and quick because we ran out of money. This guy is beyond bad, he is horrible and unethical. Nearly cost us our marriage. We will be reporting him to the bar as we have many of his lies in emails.

Do not hire this guy! If I could rate him at 0 I would. He will take you as a client and do nothing except for what is in his own self interest ($). He will look you in the eye and flat out lie to you. He will not answer your calls or e-mails. He will tell you what you want to hear and then not follow up. Lies and deceit is what you will get from him. Do not hire him!
