I am quite shocked by some of the reviews I am reading. I suspect a lot of these are from clients Mr. Zap took on, not knowing yet, who he was dealing with. You get what you give… and no, I don’t even mean money. If you treat people with respect, they will usually treat you with respect, in return. When I retained Mr. Zap through legal aid, I was anxious that my case would not be treated as a priority, given my legal aid status. This was so far from the case. The secretary, law clerks and Mr. Zap, have been working together seamlessly on my case. It is always a welcoming environment in the office, and I have been very impressed thus far with the process (this is not my first time going through family court). I won my last court case, but I was not confident in my previous lawyer. I would leave appointments and court dates feeling so overwhelmed. When it comes to Mr. Zap and the rest of the team, I always leave feeling heard, and knowing myself and my child are in good hands.

Don't waste your time and money. Mr. Zap kept pushing and pushing for me to accept to settlement that my husband offered, even though it was only about 1/3 of what I should've gotten. He didn't speak up in my defence or fight for me AT ALL at the settlement hearing...not once. He is useless as a lawyer. maybe it would be different if you had $30,000.00 to throw on his desk before he started your case, but I can't say anything good about him.

He is so bad lawyer for so many reason, I don’t believe that my explanations will fit here. I am so disappointed, I can’t recommend for anyone. He is very good with promises what he never keeps .He gives you false information and then leaves you in the dark. When you need his help, cannot reach him . The very best is: the court position is 3 months driver license suspension and with his help you will get 2 years! Is it not nice???

zap is a lierr...screwed up my case too...he presented a proposal to the judge i never wanted or asked for or even saw and stated i won and there was no further court dates. the court house said NOTHING happened today and it was put over to a new date. my now ex-lawyer never notified the other parties, legal aid said he even got paid for cases he never did for me and claimed he won the case. presenting false court documents. my last case zap lost. i got a new lawyer and won. than i went back to zap for a simple case and he still scewed it up and never took care of my other cases or talked about it....stephen zap is a real piece of work...he called me after he found out i reported this everywhere and to legal and and fired him, he is still forcing me to come in and sign papers.

Stephen Zap came through for me in family court on two occasions. My oldest daughter's sperm donor that had nothing to do with her for 1st 4 yrs of her life then decided after fighting paternity he wanted visitation. My daughter didn't even know he existed and Mr. Zap made sure she didn't have to endure visitations with a drug abusing woman abuser. Best decision ever!! (she is now 32). Fast forward 14 years when I split with my 2nd daughter's father. Mr. Zap again did an excellent job fighting for what was right for my girls and again got everything I asked for. I knew he was doing a good job because my ex hated him with a passion. He will proceed how you ask even if he advises against it. He is a fighter and he takes no crap and that is exactly what you want in a lawyer. Still recommend him today 15 years later. AB

Mr Zap represented me in family court against CAS and my daughters father. He is a great lawyer and pushed me to do better when I was struggling. He explained things clearly and didn't sugar coat anything. He fought for me no matter what and I appreciate his hard work,patience and persistence with my situation.

Stephen Zap has been my Lawyer since 2003. He has Represented my wife and I in Family Law and with Wills and Estates. Mr. Zap has always shown us the utmost respect and has gone above and beyond the call of duty in all of our dealings with him. We will continue to use Mr. Zap in the future and we highly recommend him to all of our family and friends who also recommend him to their Families and friends.

Mr Zap is a very knowledgable Lawyer. He walks in a court room with confidence. He lays it on the line as to what you can do and what you cant'. What it will cost you and where it will get you. A Lawyer you would want to represent you in court. :)

Although he is knowledgeable about current laws, I found him extremely rude and short, barely having the time to explain things to me, let alone slowly and clearly. He has a very arrogant tone in his voice and I didn't feel comfortable with him. His office is often empty in the front, with noone at the desk, so you go in and wait for hours with noone coming to see if you're there!! I found him so condescending and he made me feel so uncomfortable, I just could barely wait until the whole thing was over. Unfortunately I was assigned to him by the city, I think the city needs to have more kind and compassionate lawyers who speak clearly, explain things,and don't make you feel like you're a poor loser because you have to fight your spouse for custody. Sigh. Terrible. Do not use if you can help it.

Mr Zap represented me when CAS took my baby at birth without warning. He answered all my questions and gave me points to work on so I had goals. Id email him questions I had and he replied promptly. I WON MY BABY BACK WITHIN 3 MONTHS!! Thank you Stephen Zap for believing in me! SI

I first went to Mr Zap back in 2001. I finally left Zap in 2007. I was stupid. Stayed with him for that long and he did nothing!! At first I thought it was normal, as I had never dealt with anything like such. But as time went on, it was like he was sitting on his hands, doing nothing for me or my children. Court dragged on for YEARS. And when issues arose, he NEVER came to my defense. I ended up getting the short end of the stick in my court case due to Mr Zap and his lack of work on my case. I would not recommend him to NO ONE!! If anyone choices to use him, do so with the knowledge that you are only his client to pay for his suits, his BMW and his boat! He will drag you case on for as long as he can to get that legal aid money and you will end up losing your case no matter what with him. I hope this is good enough warning for others not to use this man. If not, its ur risk...and loss...

Doesnt put clients needs or case forward... Nor their childrens best interest nor safety. Spends too much time conversing with other clients during meetings as well as the opposing council during court. Does not instill confidence. Was highly disapointed. Poor service.
