He is late to court, annoys the judge, doesn't communicate with family or inmate. Had no idea what the case was about or his client was in the hole for 2 weeks.

Mr. Burt lacks the courtesy of responding when left messages nor informs family or inmate of strategy or intentions. He doesnt consult with inmate til in court, and never asked client about her mental health issues. He was surprised by my questions about client and surprised when i refered to info i left (doctors, therapist, etc). He denied receiving anything nor did he refer to it later. Early in the case, the court ordered a psych eval and after 3 mths hadn't complied. Only after another charge was added did he pass the case to another PubDef.

he is lazy, does not communicate what is occuring in the case, mostly because he himself is unaware and too lazy to find out. He does not follow through with statements he makes regarding next steps he will be taking, and was completely and totally unprepared for trial. He is very unconvincing during addressing the jury, actually seems like he's unsure of himself and doesn't know if he believes what he is saying. I would NEVER recommend using him as a defense attorney for someone who is actually innocent, he seems to have no care or consideration for his clients and the outcome of their case

Fred Burt saved my behind from doing 6 years prison time after my original public defender abandoned my case and didn't tell another soul while she went to rehab for alcoholism

Mr. Burt was assigned by the courts to represent inmate and didn't bother to interview the detainee. Mr. Burt denied the detainees' right to contact any family or close friend member. The inmate was left in the dark, to the point that the inmate attempted suicide while in jail. It took the inmate 3 months before being able to write any family member. I tried contacting Mr. Burt in late January, 2008; and he had the audacity to return my last call - only after I reported him to the attorney general in his area - with fanfare of superiority and insulted me, and my entire family saying "...you people..." and other obscene words I am not allow to mention. Mr Burt made my mother and sister cry. Never in our entire life, both personal and professional, had we ever been insultated to that level. Mr. Burt deserves being desbarred.
