I had Jeff Fritz & he was wonderful! My wealthy ex & his new “bride” served me, a stay home mom with a custody battle. Unlike my ex’s lawyer Robert Lesh junior who lied & was a drama queen, Mr Fritz was professional, HIGHLY intelligent & kept the name calling out of all our declarations. Mr Fritz even told our judge Judith Stern (a Horrible woman, incompetent, petty & unprofessional) that Lesh was wearing the bench so to stop the drawn, pricey battle. Judy Stern ignored it. here is the BOTTOM LINE. Many ppl used Mr Fritz & then FAILED TO PAY. So he isn’t greedy its some Dirt bag, selfish clients that are! A fee agreement is just that! Many LAZY LAWYERS IN SAN DIEGO- jeff Fritz is ambitious, genius & professional.

I've used a lot of top attorneys in San Diego, and Jeff Fritz is by far the most gifted of all. He gets a bad rap once his clients' greedy plans backfire.

This law firm is a joke. They wasted my time and money on fruitless efforts. I didn't mind spending the extra money if they could produce. After $33,000 and still not addressing my true desire, custody of my child...they ruined my reputation in the court room and any chance of getting her back. Their lack of professionalism put a bad taste in the judges mouth and made the judge lean towards my ex. DO NOT USE THIS LAW FIRM FOR ANY LEGAL NEEDS! They are a sham and a joke to the legal profession.

The best rating I can pass on is from my ex-wife who hired and fired him after he ran up her bill for over $200,000 and sent her to collections. "I can't believe I was so stupid!" is her story today. I hate to say it but I'm laughing. Once Jeff was out of the picture we settled but he screwed her over big time. Her story was on several websites--Google him at angiemedia, wordpress, and carpe dicta. If your ex hires Jeff-you're in luck--easy to defeat but you have to beat the hell out of him--his BS falls apart and the case collapses on them. Sad to say that this is standard business for some very weak lawyers. Tell your attorney to hammer him hard (concessions get you screwed with Jeff), run up the costs, and he'll bail on your ex as soon as she complains abou the bill (which won't be long).

Further hilarity, folks!! As I mentioned previously, my court opponent trailed a large box of documents. Like on one of those old-person grocery dolly things. Turns out this individual subsequently re-hired Fritz, and in stunning form, I got to watch The Man himself trail that same badass box on the same grocery dolly. Client's last name slapped upside the box, as before. Couldn't possibly miss it. It was like the Ark in Raiders of the Lost Ark, except for all sorts of fail... given the various keepers of this Xerox ark. I've never been intimidated by cardboard, personally. As always, YMMV.

My opponent in family court hired Mr. Fritz. From my direct experience it was kind of sad in the end. I endured a close to two hour deposition from Fritz, which wasn't all that bad, as I remember it. Had an espresso shot in my Starbucks that morning, I think... Anyhow, I survived the deposition despite the sometimes overly direct questioning, and generally felt that I came off better that day than the other side did. It's not rocket science, and I certainly didn't compromise my principles in giving any answer. So, later... at the scheduled court hearing, I fully expected to see Fritz, but I didn't. My court opponent apparently ran out of money, and represented themselves instead. It was almost sad, seeing the other party trailing a box of xeroxed documents. I got the billing attempt from the other side, but since after tax and child support is paid things were mostly equal, and since nothing I did in asking for more time with child was reckless, the other side paid, not me. YMMV.

The best advice I can give you is to get a scanner with OCR software, that way should you get any subpoena for all your financial records, in about 20-30 minutes you can return the favor in kind. This would be true for any attorney, I expect. That's what I'd do. Fight fire with fire, ultimately attorneys are only intermediaries, so bury the true opponent (your ex) in the same miserable paperwork request. Then - and only then - negotiate. The initial subpoena you might or might not receive is only as intimidating as your belief that you can't send it right back. Best to do it the same day or next, that will allow you to improve your odds in effectively negotiating with the other party to stop the game before wasting too much time doing unequal work. Or so I've been advised.

Jeff Fritz was hired to conduct formal discovery in a dissolution case. The attorney failed to subpoena the husband's employer and corporate affiliates. The State Bar said that Mr. Fritz works for you, the client, and had a legal obligation to follow your instructions. Consequently, I was unable to secure financial information under the penalty of perjury from the employer. Mr. Fritz subpoenead financial institutions but failed to provide the husband's SSN and date of birth. This indentifying information is required before the bank can release any financial records. The compliance officer at one mortgage company confirmed the attorney submitted a mailing address, instead of proving a SSN and dob. This defective subpoena produced zero results, suppressing financial information from the client. When the attorney deposed the husband, he neglected to ask him the name of his employers, the addresses, shareholder status, etc. Mr. Fritz was fired due to conflicts of interests.

Jeff embodies the tragic environment that our despotic divorce court judges and insanely ignprant legislators have created. Punish hard work, tax innovation, quell independence, but encourage perjury, reward theft, harm children and our community in the process. Sounds like a plan.

This man should be locked up. Burnt me for $20K, had his assistant represent me in court who knew nothing about my case. Has sent me to collections over it. All the negative ratings are completely true, the positive feed back must come out of his own office. Guy needs a code and ethics class. He should be banned from courts.

DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTY. I am a SD Atty also and the legal term of art for Fritz's modus operandi is "churning." He and his staff have the "charm offensive" down pat, telling you what a stand up guy he is, all the while performing unncessary and duplicative work. He will have no qualms about lying to your face and is very good at it. Surprised to see repeated references to Fritz being a "pit bull" as he rolled over in my friends case giving away "the farm" at the mediation [I think he had dinner plans] but not before he unilaterally agreed to prepare the MSA adding approximately $10K more to her bill. The numbers are not all in yet but he will end up with approximately 60-75% of her total settlement. At least she has an MSA. Her friend used Fritz, has no agreement, owes him $20K and the first month she missed a payment, he sent her a form letter telling her he was dropping her as a client. This parasite prays on people while they are most vulnerable. Shame on you Jeffrey Fritz

Fritz is the quintessential **** divorce lawyer. The "good" reviews here are undoubtedly from him or his army of paralegals. I know some of his former associates and even they tell me he overbills, is extremely unprofessional, lies, increases hostilities, refuses to settle, and has a terrible reputation with the judges. Read the article on him here: http://angiemedia.com/2010/04/16/san-.... Hiring Jeff is the worst mistake you could make in your divorce.

Jerrrey Fritz is very knowledgable. He specializes in working very hard on irrelevant issues, using his knowledge to take as much money as possible. On my case for a modification of visitation, he burned through by $5000 retainer collecting small claims case files. I did get two boxes of files. He then was retained by my girlfriends husband and confliced me out. I sued Fritz and he misrepresented to the Court and won. I think you will find that many of the "good" reviews are written by him or his staff. There is a great deal of critical information. One site is Family Law Courts.com, which supplies the website link to complain to the State Bar if you are foolish enough to hire him. If you believe in hell, Fritz will be at the right hand of the devil.

Mr. Fritz is not only an honorable person, but he is also a phenomenal attorney - two attributes that don't always go hand in hand. Mr. Fritz is exceptionally detailed, efficient, tenacious and yes, expensive, but worth every dime. He made a devastating experience bearable and kept me safe and got results when I needed them most. Anyone who disparages Mr. Fritz or his firm must be on the other side of the case. I've read a lot of the junk on the internet about Mr. Fritz and my research tells me these individuals who have banded together need help - there is a reason many of them have lost custody of their children - maybe they should look at their own behavior. Mr. Fritz has always been honorable in all my dealings with him and when you are good at what you do, I guess it is expected that people will criticize. In addition, Mr. Fritz has a stellar staff who are professional, efficient and caring.

I hired Basie & Fritz 6 years ago. I needed an attorney who got filings and paperwork done. My case is complicated, and I was getting pulverized, until I went to Jeff. He is a pit bull, and that was what I needed to protect me. It costs alot of money to litigate any lawsuit, however I have paid one third of what the opposing party has paid. Delays are normal in lawsuits, so don't blame the attorney. I did alot of my own research and work toward my case, and when I went back over the court documents with a microscope and applied the arguments to the law - Jeff work is beyond superior. He did not miss a point. Legal issues and filings are extremely complicated, and Basie & Fritz has the ability to handle the real big and difficult challanging cases. I will be forever grateful to Basie & Fritz for sense of security I have gotten from their continued representation. They have gotten me the best of the best in experts to keep me well guarded. He is a bargin for what he does.

Anyone who complains about Jeff Fritz didn't do their research before hiring him. He is costly for a reason, so don't expect a Neiman Marcus representation at Walmart prices with this Lawyer. He is well worth every penny because of his knowledge and expertise in Family Law. I'm a San Diego attorney myself, and I hired Jeff because I've seen him in action personally and professionally. Not only is he a shark and a true litigator for his clients in the courtroom, but he gets results - and yes, at your expense. Duh! Fritz is rarely retained because parties are willing to mediate. Sorry, but this guy's a hired gun for those who have relentless spouses that are incapapable of mediation. My former spouse did everything to use the Family Court System to make my life miserable, but once I enlisted the services of Attorney Jeffrey Fritz I felt like I had a personal bodyguard and could live my life in peace again. Fritz = Mr. Wolfe, Harvey Keitel's character in Pulp Fiction, a true expert!

I hired Jeff and his firm following a divorce to enforce a contract. He gave the work to a junior attorney (Elisa Kisselburg) who I obviously paid to learn the local court system. Unfortunately about ten thousand dollars of the work was not even admissable in court and in the end the costs were over five times greater than first communicated. The outcome was in my favor, but his firms final charges were over ten thousand dollars over my best projected outcome. In light of that, the net worth had a negative value in my case. The case was projected to take three months but it appeared they worked harder to drag it out (took over eight months). In the end, it required my going to their office to request the final paperwork so I could take it to my ex-wife to sign. It was a bad experience and left me in a huge financial crises. You couldn't do much worse by closing your eyes and picking one out of the phone book.

Unbelievable is all I can say. Everything people say about him is true...I didn't want to believe it, but after I got my first billing statement and they had screwed up simple paperwork, I switched to a better attorney, and now they won't return the rest of my retainer money. CHEATS LIES AND STEALS!

Jeff Fritz was written about in the San Diego Tribune for being a "cockroach in a suit". He is famous for taking very simple divorces and creating conflict to drive up his own fees. My girlfriend could have settled her case, and ended up with enough money to take care of her children. Instead, she let him convince her she would come out better if she litigated. She still ended up with 50% of the assets after dragging her family through two years in court. Her half is now $100,000 less than if she had just mediated.
