Not sure what I regret more, attempting to use Mr. Spaugh or waiting too long to warn the public about him. He was referred by 2 family friends & truly wish we would've done more research on him. Sincerely feel as if he took our money, ran & took advantage of being our 1st lawyer. The lack of communication was horrific, His unprofessionalism in attempting to "represent" us in court was beyond embarrassing. Do your research & trust your gut when it comes to others representing your children & life.

Look no further than the NC Bar to see the record of this attorney. He has been reprimanded for neglecting and failure to communicate with his clients and failure to respond to the Bar. I paid more than $15,000 for a complex child custody case.In return my calls and emails were repeatedly ignored. The few calls that he did return were dominated by his lengthy rhetorical ramblings which resulted in a hefty charge for the call. When we finally settled in court it took Rob over 8 months to produce the parenting agreement. A year later, after consulting another lawyer, I learned that the order was never signed by the judge and never filed. I believe all of the negative reviews that are posted here. Do not under any circumstances hire this man. If you are working with him count your losses and get out. I am filing a complaint with the NC Bar.

My ex-husband filed to have my alimony discontinued. Having been laid off from his near six figure job he enjoyed a full year of "golden parachute" free benefits and full salary. When the year ran out he still received unemployment. I on the other hand live on a small fixed income on Social Security Disability. During the hearing Mr. Spaugh said nothing to dispute my ex's claims or to support my position of need (even when I pleaded with him to do so). I lost my case and my alimony. The result, my ex is taking summer trips out of state and driving a new car. I on the other hand have lost my credit rating, my house is in foreclosure and I eat cereal for dinner. Thank you very much Mr. Spaugh. I hope whatever deal you may have made with the other attorney was well worth my sacrifice.

Rob worked for me after I spent two years without income from the husband of 30 years who LEFT me. He got me income and relief and is a great lawyer. I thank God for him because I would have nothing if it weren't for his tenacity and drive that wouldn't quit or wait to lazy ex to do whatever. Thank you Rob you are the BEST!!! SueB

I paid this lawyer up front $1000.00 for an easy divorce. I drug my feet a couple years and am now ready to go through with the divorce. Robert says I have no money in equity with him and will NOT provide an itemized listing of expenses! That shouldn't be all that difficult. I've been waiting now for 6 months on that document. He was pleasant and responsive until I paid him. Then very little or no interaction. His receptionist is great though.

I used Robert Spaugh for a divorce, I paid him up front, and then he kept asking how much money I had in the bank. (I thought he needed that information for the court) He got almost $10,000.00 from me before I got a new lawyer. He did nothing for me, by far the worst lawyer I have ever worked with. I got a new lawyer and won my case in a short time, and only paid him about $2500.00.

Once you get Rob to move you better be ready!!! If he seems slow to move at times there is most likely a good reason, waiting on papers or a response from the other attorney.

I've been trying to get an equidable distruibution order served and a court date for over 14 months with this lawyer. I've paid him $8000.00 and he has done absolutely nothing!!! He never returns phone calls but he sure charges me for every call I have to make to him to see where I stand since this has been dragging on for so long.I'm now going to have to represent myself this money I paid got me nowhere.
