This attorney appeared to be drunk based upon his behavior and refused to even review evidence proving my innocence. He advised me to plead guilty to something I didn't do and can prove I didn't do it. He is lazy, unprofessional and incapable of understanding fact from fiction. He took $4,500 to file a notice of appearance & review the false allegations made against me. He does not care about truth and is too lazy to do the job he was hired to do. I fired him & retained counsel who took the time to review facts. Don't waste your money on the hiring this man. He has no integrity and doesn't fight for the truth. He takes your money & does nothing. He truly is a waste of time & money. He literally did nothing but read the charges & apparently believed what was written. He even accused me of fabricating my W-2's & all he had to do was subpoena W-3 records from the IRS to prove validity of the W-2s, but he was too lazy to do anything he was hired for. Facts matter

For those who have had negative experience with the Colter Law Group or Mr. Thomas Colter him self. Have you filled a complaint with, Florida Better Business Bureau, The Florida Bar Association, Florida Department of Agriculture Division of consumer affairs, small claims or incident report with the local Police Department? You need to file a complaint against him and have him investigated. "Don't just do nothing! if you have been taken advantage of". File a complaint and let the governing bodies conduct their investigations!

He’s a con artist. He will convince you to hire him. And says I charge more than other attorneys but I’m worth it. He has done nothing for my case but take my money. DO NOT HIRE HIM!!!

Lindsey comes out and wants me to read and sign everything out in the open while standing at the counter. So as I uncontrollably stand leaning against the counter top I notice that nothing was accurate. It was like she or someone just copy pasted a template and said thats good enough. I mean come on! Why did Mr. Colter assure me not to worry? Well my confidence in the lack of attention to detail and lack of communication was a complete and utter bomb on the confidence I was quickly loosing. I point out the many mistakes and Lindsey says she will be sure to correct them right away. I asked if she could please email me the fixed copy so I could look it over and not waste another 2.5 hours driving back and forth. She agreed and I left. A week passes and I never heard from her or ever received an email. But what I did receive was a bill for $1400 for the work that was done on drafting that divorce decree, you know the one that was all wrong and never fixed?

DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!!! Hired them a year ago and NOTHING has been filed for my simple parenting plan case. Cost me $$$$ that I don't have. When I tried to fire them, I got a phone call saying they did their job and to call who everI wanted to then he hung up on me. I was not even allowed to speak. I had over $1000 of funds still on my account. Denied a refund. BEWARE!!!!

I Contacted Tom Colter for a consultation following my arrest for a third DUI. I couldn’t have made a better choice. He knows his stuff and provides realistic advice on what I needed to do to minimize my exposure to jail or prison. His confidence in his game plan gave me the piece of mind that I needed. Mr. Colter took care of everything, kept me out of court and answered all my questions. When I was finally in for court, he demonstrated his exceptional skill and expertise in front of the judge. Mr. Colter kept me out of jail and saved my future. I have no hesitation in recommending Tom to anyone arrested for DUI or any other criminal offense! His associates and assistants are top notch too.

I have been in, first visitation now custody battle for my loving son for a long time. I hired Tom Colter to represent me. Since this has begun almost 5 years ago Tom has diligebntly served my case with honor and integrity. He has always spoke to me with concern and honesty. He and his firm have responded to my calls and concerns. Tom has become a close person in my life whom I consider a friend not just my lawyer. He has invited me to attend church with him and trust in God along his side. I can't say enough good things about Tom and his staff. Now on to his skills. Everytime we have entered a courtroom it has gone our way. He is a wolverine in the courtroom and shows his true talent. Tom is not a cheap lawyer but a great lawyer. You get what you pay for so don't let a little more money jeopardize your results. I feel Tom has represented me with my concerns and needs for me and my son as his sole motive. I have and will continue to recommend Thomas Colter to anyone I know needing legal help, especially when it comes to child custody issues. I lived in Wyoming and my case was through Florida. All of my communication was through phone and even then he did an excellent job. We first went to mediation and he got me what I wanted. Then a few months later and incident occurred with my child's father and I called Colter immediately. He had an emergency motion scheduled within days of me calling him. He was able to get me to be able to attend court through phone since I lived so far away. During court he did an amazing job. My child is now with me 100% of the time and is safe because of Mr. Colter. He was a pleasure to work with and I will continue to use him and his fellow associates at Colter Law Group in the future. He is worth every penny.

I am very satisfied with Tom Colter and the way in which he handled my cases. Tom handled a difficult criminal and a divorce case for me. Tom explained everything to me in detail and was very generous with his time. I will always be grateful and recommend Tom to anybody with legal trouble. Tom is very helpful, kind, compassionate, knowledgeable attorney. Tom always returns calls in a timely fashion, and he even gave me his personal cell phone number so I could reach him after hours. I would highly recommend him to anyone with legal issues of any kind.

As a person who paid $5000 to this attorney I would advice against using him. He's a perfect example of a salesman who treats you great when you are a prospect and then is terrible when you are a client. He has perhaps one of the lowest rating of any attorney. It's like the Cosby case. All 50 women can't be making this up. Save your money and find another attorney.

Please, if you are reading these reviews, you're obviously in need of a competent defense lawyer to actually DEFEND your case. I beg of you to not retain Mr. Colter, nor anyone at his law firm. He will allow a LOT of time to pass, telling you things you want to hear at first, however, he does not care about you or your family. It is amazing how this man is getting away with his "sales" pitches, will NOT review your case to defend you in a court of law, even on the facts, and will be more than happy to see you go to prison because now he got all your money. My review is 0.00000; he's a big Zero.

My custody case took over a yr and I hardly spoke to him. Kept promising me everything would work out. Kept taking my money, but never got anywhere. Paid over $5000 and I represented myself which left me with supervised visits. One of the worst lawyers I have met if there are any good ones. Told me he did not believe me. I believe i made a huge mistake hiring him not to mention I wasted money I don't have to just throw away!

I was represented by Thomas Colter in 2010. He advised me to plead no contest on a simple domestic. I lost my job, children, and complete life. I a disable veteran and he took advantage of me. It is now 2013. My ex wife (who I divorce) continuosly use that plead of no contest against me. She was awarded temporary custody, and now shields me for my children... To Thomas Colter when I'm done fixing your dominoe effect, I'm coming for your bar. Thomas Colter also lied about what was in the case discovery during this Simple Domestic case. You violated my mental instabily, during a tragic moment in my family for monetary gain. You are a fraud. I have no fear in your legal power in the TREASURE COAST. I advise ever of the Treasure Coast to no use Colter Law group of any of the services, because the leader Thomas Colter is fruadlent and motivated by money, not your future.

Worst ever he totally called and was intoxicated at 8:00 at night when my court was at 10:00 the next morning and told me to take out my credit card to win the case ,we did win but an extra $3500 later he's a scumbag

I recently was in need of legal representation and contacted Colter law group. Upon reviewing situation Tom advised me of my options. I made my decision based on all pertinent information and hired him. I most likely was going to prison due to my behavior. Tom was able keep me out of prison and at home with my family due to his expertise and knowledge of the judicial system. I also feel that he really did not want me to be away from my 3 year old son, as he is a compassionate man. I am thankful that I contacted Tom and he was a straight shooter with me about my situation. I would recommend consulting the Colter Law Group for any legal needs. Tim Moriarty

He is the worst attorney I've ever worked with. He doesn't return calls or listen to his clients. He also states one price and then last minute ads on fees. He lost my boyfriend's case because of his lack of everything. He was all buddy buddy with the ADA and the judge. The whole trial felt like it was a waste of time because he did not put any effort into defending him on a charge he didnt actually commit. He didnt call witnesses that would've helped the case and didnt follow up on any of the information that was given to him. He wouldn't even accpet his calls from jail. Don't use him, save your money. A public defender is better than this idiot.

By far, the worst attorney in Stuart, Florida. Overpriced, cocky, disrespectful and ignorant. He does not know how to defend anyone. Save your money and get a public defense attorney....at least they will try.

I thought he would be the best attorney for me. Big mistake. He and his entire staff are disrespectful. They tend to ignore what the client wants, and do what is at their best interest . They under mind their clients and tend to make decisions without consulting their clients and charge them for it. As far as my belief, I believe that an attorney should be respectful, on point, and have communication with their client. I found none of this with this attorney. By the way, very expensive at that. This was a divorce case by the way.

Do not get involved with this so called attorney. He does not keep his appointments & did not file things on time.He charges plenty & and keeps asking for more money. Very rude.I'm thinking of filing a complaint with the Florida Bar.Does not take any time with your case other than ask for money. This was a divorce case. I'm getting a new attorney....

Atty Colter is top notch. He helped us out when nobody else would. He is busy and at times hard to reach, but his staff is very helpful. He always calls back within 24 hours. Very happy.

I believe that he is an intelligent Attorney, but on the other hand he's very costly and he also doesn't return phone calls. My case is a very unique financial matter and I feel Im being strung along until he feels comfort. I dont understand some of his logic, ecspecially in my case that could potentially put you away for quite some time. I have read the above matters and find 2 out 3 to be truthful.

I had my doubts at first, he is actually a greaqt trial attorney. If you have a good trial case i recommend him. You just have to push him in that direction. Hes very good
