The worst lawyer in calgary. Never met his dead lines. Lying always. Pretend he knows the issue but never go through the material he is like copy past with other lawyers never win any case with me. He does not think like a judge. Repeating himself always. DO NOT GO THERE. The Amery Firm is worst firm I had a bad experience with the owner. Never follow up or return calls

All negative comments in this review on this lawyer is true 1-failed to properly serve the interest of my case2-failed to respond or take my calls most of the times 3- fails to complete tasks or my instructions 4- never went prepared before the court which caused me to lose every session against Joni or lawyers 5-never give you a copy of his work or even not copy you on emails always hiding his work from client and keep him in the dark-6- I fired him because he always lies to me never met his dead line and he refused to give me the package so I won’t be able to unfold his bad work 8- I never got back copy of the contract signed with him and always ask for more money Bottom line DO NOT HIRE HIM AT ALL

Represented my mother in her divorce and I referred my brother in law to him. My spouse and I also got him to do our wills. We've had nothing but good experiences using him.

Rod has represented me in 2 divorces, one contested and 1 uncontested. He did a great job with both cases. It was never hard to get a hold of him, calls to his office after hours were re-directed to his cellphone and he accepted text messages also.

RUN - this lawyer is a nightmare - If you are considering this attorney DON'T! He was my worst nightmare legal aid should have him disbarred! I can't begin with the many mistakes he made - he will return only the first call to set up an appointment then never call again - won't return emails or texts - will torment and agonize you while you await answers from him - loses paperwork or gives to the other side - discusses with the other side your personal life embarrassing you - my divorce was a nightmare - on the final court date $11,000 later (I am not working and owe this now) he was in the court cafeteria laughing it up with my ex and his lawyer (I have 2 witnesses) - please for your own sanity DO NOT retain this idiot please RUN!!!

Rod MacKenzie Is very knowledgeable, Rod knows the laws and he will help you out, You need to listen to him, if it’s not helpful information trust it’s because it isn’t important to the law. :) I am so impressed with Rod and everything he has done for myself and my 2 kids and we are a happy family. A little trust and a bit of maturity goes a long way. 5 star lawyer!

Do yourself a favour, save your money and headaches by staying away from Rod Mackenzie. After two months of doing nothing, having no clue about my files, always giving excuses when following up I terminated him. When I asked for my retainer back, what do I get- a rap sheet of charges including ‘chatting with OC’ that I wasn’t even aware of and you guessed it right, he made sure he used up my entire $2500 retainer and added $97 owing on top. I should have gone with my gut feeling from the onset when I met him in person. Run with your money and time and find a good lawyer who can articulate your case. Don’t even be fooled by the redone website. Believe all the negative reviews here as I experienced all of them in the 2 months I transferred my file to him.

Best lawyer I have ever dealt with. Knowledgeable, professional, excellent negotiation, truly cares about his clients. Exceeded expectations and a real joy to work with. Thank you Rod!

I've dealt with 4 or 5 different lawyers over the years for both work and personal reasons and Rod was by far the easiest of all the lawyers I've dealt with to get a hold of. He accepts and answers text messages (and emails) and if you phone his office, the call is routed to his cellphone if he isn't in the office. He sometimes doesn't answer text messages right away as he says if he's in court her can't drop everything to deal with text messages. But always within 24 hours.

Worst lawyer ever. Files ridiculous claims and promises the world but never delivers.

Worst lawyer ever. Very unorganized. Fired him after chasing him to do something with my case. When I went to my new lawyer I found out he missed 2 of my court appeared cessation and I owed the other side $500 for each no show. My new lawyer even found another clients personal financial papers in my file that he sent over. I have never received any final billing and I will be reporting him for many isues that cost me dearly. Don't hire him whatever you do.

I have hired Rod a couple of times over the years, and his work has always exceeded my expectations. on an injury case, the settlement he achieved for me was quite a bit more than I had ever expected I would get.

I had a very good experience with Rod. He worked extremely hard to advance my case, every phone call and email was returned. My opinion is he went the extra mile to get things done and the results were very good for me.

I'm sorry but Rod is a terrible lawyer. He never ever returned my calls, emails or was ever on time for our meetings. That's not even the worst of it! Twice he never even showed up for court after me repeatedly leaving him voice mails and emails. Should he not know when he needs to be in court!? Rod is clueless and lied to me on several occasions about what was going on. He is a nice enough guy yes, but that isn't enough to win a case. I ended up having to represent myself when he did a no show for the last time and I was sick and tired of not having my case seen. Do yourself a favour and hire someone who is honest and will actually communicate with you. So disappointed and beyond frustrated!

Rod was my lawyer for a custody and access trial and he did an amazing job in every way. His cross-examination of my ex was the most amazing thing to watch. A very good trial lawyer, I was speaking to him afterwards and he told me he had done 4 custody and access trials in the matter of 6 months and was happy with the outcomes in all of them. I will always promote him and tell people what a great lawyer he is because the results he got for me and the way my life has benefited from his work is priceless.

I found Rod Mackenzie based on the review on this website. After I hired him and gave him the retainer fee. He told me that my case was a straight one and he would started right away. But he didn't keep his promises. He didn't pick up my calls or return my e-mails, text messages until I told him I was going to switch lawyer. He broker his pomises several times. My matter is urgent but he didn't care at all. After I fired him, he kept ignoring my request to have my retainer fee back. I would never recommand him to anyone.

The worst lawyer I have dealt so far. His communication is zero to none. Doesn't communicate at all. He has no clue what is happening with your file until you actually physically go to his office to inquire as he doesn't answer your calls and will not return your messages. Very dishonest with billing. Will conduct research on your behallf without even consulting you first and if you confront him he starts blaming you for everything. I think he has no expereince in family law and would provide the worst advice ever. I have no personal gain out of this review but to inform other people who are going through divorce as it is already a stressful time and he would add more to that. Please be wise chosing him. He is very unprofessional and is totally disorganized. In the beginning he would be very nice to you to get you business but then you would see his real face.

My wife had gotten an EPO against me, at first I wasn't able to see my children at all, after hiring Rod, he first made is possibly to see my children supervised, which was super, then after an actual trial, he was able to get me unsupervised visits with my chilren every second weekend! Very knowledgable about the law, makes very good decisions in court, and asks all of the right questions. He is sometimes hard to get ahold of, and cuts it close time wise, but overall is a fantastic lawyer, that will work hard to get what you want.

I've used Rod MacKenzie for a number of years. He has always been an exceptional lawyer to me. He takes the time to make sure that you understand everything that is going on and his rates are very reasonable. He does exceptional accident injury work and he advises you against taking crap offers if he thinks you deserve more. He doesn't jump at the first offer so he can get paid, he fights for you until you get what you deserve. I'll keep using him and I'm glad so many other people feel the same way.

I have had lawyers in the past and felt quite ripped off, but Rod is very honest and stright up. Even though he is hard to get a hold of once he got the ball rolling he dealt with my case quickly and accurately. He is awesome!!!

Really knowledgable, knows what steps to take and what to argue and when. Really heavy caseload though. Tells you what steps have to be taken, but needs prodding sometimes as he seems to have alot of other files to work on at the same time. Fair billing practices.
