i have been a claimant with alan shapiro since 2011 dealing with a recurrence claim concerning lwop. his arguments with the ecab system was very firm. the second opinion doctor were very unprofessional and he was succesful with his argument the my doctor had the equal concerning my medicial conditions. he also represented in 3 hearing with his son assistance' shapiro had enough perverance to deal with recurrence claim for 14 years. i final received a favor ruling on 4/08/2024 from ecab reinstating both cases by reopening and reactivating them

I had a return call from one of the attorneys from this firm and he was a jerk. He wanted me to know that he makes 350.00 and it is not his issue to FIX me. He actually raised his voice on the phone to me. I informed him that I would not be using his services. His last words were basically, I could call back when I was ready to settle my case. DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATHE A HOLE.

I have been very disappointed with the professionalism and quality of work completed by the Shapiro Firm. Alan has always shown his knowledge of OWCP claims. However, his son whom are Attorney's are RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL and I URGE you to WALK AWAY NOW! Save the heartache and stress. They failed to do their job costing me 10's of thousand, yet still filling their pockets.

These ECAB cases take over 14 years to progress-mistakes made by 5 previous lawyers, the Board, the Office, OWCP, take time, knowledge, patience, Attorney Alan J. Shapiro has it and gets it. Studying my own case-seeing the lies from the OWCP Doctors, the ever changing Decisions (ECAB), my own appeals and overcoming simply bad happenings, Shapiro Law is there to fix it and win. Potential outcome-$50 K. +. Highly recommend Shapiro Law.

I had the displeasure of speaking with Geoffrey Shapiro. He was both rude and condescending. I explained I was not 100% familiar with the OWCP system, but my injury was severe and the resulting surgery required the fusion of three vertebrae. (for reference-very rarely will a neurosurgeon conduct a three-level fusion) He did not seem interested in the fact the operating neurosurgeon strongly disagreed with the IME report. He told me, "OWCP is not a retirement system" and made reference to my injury date as if I were on OWCP for too long. He never arrived to the point OWCP took more than one year to approve the surgery. He was smug when I addressed his rudeness and was patronizing when asking, "Then what's your question?" At this point, the only question I could muster was, "Why are you such an ****?" Find anyone else to represent you!

Terrible "REPRESENTATION". My hearing was a joke! He was not prepared and stated the wrong names during the hearing. RUDE, RUDE, AND RUDE.

After seeing some not so stellar reviews, I took a chance and called to get simple information regarding the sloppy paperwork I received in the mail for the Attourney-Client Fee Agreement. Paperwork is confusing and misleading, so I figured I would ask some basic clarifying questions before signing. I spoke with Daniel, and he was probably one of the most unprofessional, rude people I've ever spoken with on the phone. He told me "you can't even imagine the level of disinterest we have in you" and continued to talk down to me and insult my intelligence. I was polite and simply thanked him for his time. I would STRONGLY advise against using this firm. The level of unprofessionalism and rudeness are a joke. Would be interesting to see how a judge would respond to treatment like this. I can't imagine how horrible representation would have been had I signed. Do your research, there is a reason these guys have awful reviews. STAY AWAY! 0/5 stars

I was referred by a coworke to have him represent me with a work injury. After several weeks of no contact with me I emailed Mr. Shapiro how the process works after a owcp denial and what were doing. We talked and I ASSUMED everything was fine then several weeks later he says he can't take the case. This man knew how, where and when the injury occurred when we first talked and had no issue. The worst experience ever I wis I would of stuck to my guns and just did this on my own which I'm doing now. Be careful people do not hire him. He nor his staff will help with questions just gives you the run around. Not to mention they all are rude and Alan Shapiro thinks he's funny making his dumb rude jokes too. I did all the work first then turned everything over to him BIG MISTAKE. I can go on and on but my suggestion STAY AWAY HE'S NO GOOD. He may know things but with the internet now a days so will you. I CAN'T EXPRESS ENOUGH DO NOT USE THE SHAPIRO FAMILY WORST EVER.

DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY! I did much of the work. His office has no idea what is going on. Worst attorney. Find someone else. Or better yet, get a FWC Advocate.

I read a lot of negative comments; but if you don't have the patience, then this is not your route. Yes, it's taken maybe 2 years, but we just now got our Award which seems not what it should be for two arms limbs having worked for military 15 years. Now I am trying to get in touch regarding if we still have a settlement to look forward to since I have been told by that I am indefinitely on light duty for the rest of my life. Well, I will write again if I get good news about a settlement. I do recommend Mr. Alan Shapiro; he is little difficult to get in touch with, but you can't give up. Wish me luck!!!

I asked Mr. Alan Shapiro to help with filing my CA-7. He filed it much too soon, I went to see a rating doctor, much too late and finally no appeal was filed. Now I was denied my award, due to no appeal filed and now, I've got to appeal to ECAB and don't know where to start first.

I'm very sorry if so many people had bad experiences with this group. I, on the contrary, had a positive outcome on my case. Look people, it's a PROCESS. It takes time (for me almost 3 years) for it to work. My settlement was more than I ever expected and 20% was well money spent. Except for an occasional email I did not bother them. Patience is the key. As I told Mr. Shapiro, the settlement was great but truly for me it was the principle. The USPS was not very kind to me. Nobody should have the things said to them like I had. I am forever grateful to Mr. Shapiro and his group.

A crook especially Geoffy. Never return calls, faxes and staff are very rude. Other attys gave warnings to stay away from Allen and Geofpee. If denied claim - they won't work for you. They just want to milk you Scheduled Award.

I was recommended to him by a co-worker. My case was denied, but reversed before my hearing was scheduled. my on issue is I had to fax my medical info to him, and the foot work. Im back to work and was informed by him that he's applying for my scheduled award. I am a member of federal soup forum and was told to limp away from him as fast as I can, and with the negative feedback that im reading makes me nervous. I signed my life away so we will see what happens, but as of this moment, I have nothing negative to say.

I was having difficulty getting my schedule award. Mr. Shapiro gave me information and explained the process. Communication could have been better and I could have completed the claim on my own but he made the process easier and reduced my stress. Although I feel his fee was high, I did get the award. In short, I would still be fighting for the award had I not used his services.

Can't talk to the lawyers. Takes at least a month for a phone call. E mails not answered. Very rude they have gone as far as telling me not to be rude but your questions are of no urgency. Don't waste your time with these bottom feeders! !

All this guy is good for is taking a piece of your settlement or scheduled award. And now with his son involved its even worse. They don't follow up or call you back, they won't or can't answer any questions....all they do is take a percentage of your money. Your better off filing for a scheduled award on your own since Shapiro does nothing to help you get anything more than what OWCP tells you for free up front...

my experience with this attorney is very much like the other reviews...my claim was accepted for occupational disease..now i am disabled retired postal worker...without compensation from owcp and my medical benefits have stopped with owcp...do you think mr shapiro is paid by dept of labor...any ways, i would not recommend this attorney!!!! this attorney did not inform me of what to expect on my appeals...the last one was so abrupt..geoffrey shapiro told me to follow his lead...the "hearing" lasted a minute..i was still on the line with dol and not aware my attorney had hung up!!!!terrible representation and/or lack of...my advice ... look for a different attorney...............

One of the worst experiences of my life. Staff is beyond incompetent, as is attorney. Nothing positive for this entire experience. Thank goodness I found our early on, and took care of the termination of my "agreement".

He is by far the most incompetent attorney I have ever worked with. He was disorganized and would ask for information I'd give to him two, three times. Any paperwork that needed to be filled out, I would have to fill it out and send it to the appropriate places. AFTER the paperwork was already sent, he'd ask for a copy of the paperwork, say that he reviewed it and then bill me. If you've ever worked with an attorney, a GOOD attorney has you fill out paperwork, sent it TO THEM for review of errors and THEN the ATTORNEY sends the paperwork on. When it was time for my hearing, he had some person callsaying to call at "such-in-such time and use such-in-such code". I wasn't given the phone number to call nor did Alan Shapiro set up any time for me to talk to him to prepare me before my hearing...as if I knew what to say or expect. If you are looking for someone to not do any work for you, mess up your case and when it's all said and done, have their hand out for their 20% then hire away.

I hired this firm, and was beyond disappointed. The staff does not appear to have any level of competence. Duplicate mailings for documents returned, meetings scheduled that have no agenda, phone calls not returned, e-mail that is not applicable to the claim; one error after another. There must be a better choice of "professional" for representation. Received a mailing to set a telephone conference, set up conference, confirmed the conference, took time off work, and then attorney Alan Shapiro knew nothing of the appointment. Nothing was initiated on my behalf, except an agreement to pay an hourly fee and or percent of settlement. Shop before you sign with these shysters.

i hired Alan to represent me in a workers compensation case. I had been denied for a scheduled award for loss of use. He was supposed to help me, but didn't. No answer to my last two e-mails. He waited months to ask me to come to Ohio or find a Doctor locally and my time to put in a reconsideration expired. Several people at my work for the USPS have also fired him for ruining their cases. Therefore, he gets a very bad rating from me.
