Mr Pauley was a friend, whom I solicited advice from on an estate matter. There was no contract, retainer, or other representation agreement. I decided not to pursue the matter, and Mr Pauley sent me a scathing email. Months later, I received an invoice for his services. I had not hired him as my attorney! We went back and forth with me apologizing, but we could not resolve the misunderstanding. Near the end of our emails, Mr Pauley suggested that I make a donation to the Lynchburg Humane Society instead of paying him, which honestly seemed very odd. I did email him agreeing to that settlement, and he ignored my email. Instead, I received a summons to court as he was suing me! The court was not anywhere close to my home, would have required considerable travel and time off from work that I did not have. If I had the time available to take off at work, I would have loved to have presented my case! He is an unethical, corrupt, BULLY. Do NOT use Mr Pauley as your attorney!
