My divorce took four years. Mr Schecter does a wonderful sales job to get your case but will drain your pockets ! My case went from judge to judge. Mr Schecter makes his money by bullying opposing counsel and not working cooperatively so the case dragged on. More time equals more money for him. He actually sat next to me in court charging me to represent him in court while working on some other clients case and paperwork! I’m sure that’s double billing! He is what gives lawyers a bad name! My final bill was more than I made in a year !!!! He takes advantage of his clients as well as the system. RUN

Jeff took tens of thousands of my hard earned dollars never showed up for court ,never returned calls and had very little interest in my case except for the billing.In jeffs case you do not get what you pay for you get a lot of rhetoric with no substance.Dumb is is what dumb does!

I am very sorry to say that the hardest work he did on this divorce case for my daughter was the evening he tried to get the case. He made endless promises and even said "he would cut the guys legs off" and that he has an outstanding relationship with the judge and his law clerk. However as the months went by,turning into years, he only proved that he was a bully motivated by his own self interests. He made motions that were not even addressed by the court. He encouraged my daughter to make an emergency motion when there was an issue of supervised custody that was breached and the judge did not even listen to it. Then Schechter glibly says he did his best and nothing else he could do. Finally after years of battle, and countless billable hours he hands my daughters case over to his assistant to finish up. At this point, he is tired and knows that he has bilked my physician daughter an inordinate sum without getting her much satisfaction with the divorce and custody issues. Run

Took money promised divorce after 2months told me my wife was not neg with divorce & he told me be best if I took divorce off table & go family court . And in 2010 Family court dragged out over yr I was billed over $20,000 & he never told me NY divorce laws had been changed & I could of gotten a irreconcilable divorce. Instead of wasted over $20,000 and still not divorced :-( only thing Jeffrey Schecter & Associates cared about was billing me as much as they could :-( WHAT HAPPENED TO DOING WHATS BEST FOR THE CILENT

Mr Schecter sells himself however he doesn't do any of the work. If you are not a high profile lots of money case forget his attention. He nickels and dimes every text phone call etc. I ended up doing a lot of work myself and did not feel protected by him. Once you start with an attorney it's very difficult to change unless you have financial resources which I did not. In addition Nassau county family court is a mess. Cases are sent from judge to judge. Do anything to mediate or find an attorney who is not interested in raping you but will work collaborate lay with another.

Truly devastated by jeffrey schecter's incompetence and lack of zealousness in my divorce case. He never once performed his due diligence in any aspect of my divorce case. Schecter is not an attorney who does the work or knows how to prepare a case. A" shoot from the hip " type that will throw whatever he can against the wall to see what sticks. He was not interested in protecting my interests or prepared my case for an equitable distribution. Unfortunately, his lack of due diligence has cost me dearly during and after the divorce in trying to correct his vast mistakes.

An amazing lawyer highly recommended. He helped me get a lot of money from my husband. With previous layers they just tried to prolong everything. Schecter was an honest man who was not interested in wasting my time just to make more money. He gives you attention and also offers great advice. I tell him to all my friends. Use him you will be happy.

Things started badly when it took many phone calls to get my case moving. But I thought Mr Schecter had done a good job until I found out,2 yrs after my divorce was granted, that he failed to properly review a QDRO which will end up costing me thousands of dollars in retirement benefits-not to mention $6000 + in attorneys fees to hire another lawyer to fix the problem that occurred due to his incompetence.
