Attorney Browne failed to communicate in writing a proposed settlement condition to opposing counsel that the offer for settlement expired on a specific date. When we finally went to court to have the case heard, the case could not be heard because to opposing party had decided to accept the offer - which had expired. If I had wanted to have the judge hear why the offer could no longer be accepted, the case would have been continued, the judge would have had to recuse herself, and additional money would have to have been given to attorney Browne to continue the case. I lacked the financial means at the time to continue the case, and so had to accept the settlement offer because the opposing party had never been notified in writing that the offer expired after a certain date. As a client I should not have to follow up with every action an attorney promised to take to ensure that the attorney is actually doing what they have promised to do. I lost my opportunity because of Ms Browne.
