Failed to show up to court 2 or 3 times. Accepted plea agreement that got his client what he would of got had he just plead guilty in the first place. The highest charge takes precedence in a case. All the other charges would of ran concurrently given his client had really no criminal background. So his client ended up with the highest charge, the lower charges were dropped. In Utah a Plea deal holds no force of law, his attorney knows that. Therefore the court can give him the punishment for what they know he did, and there is nothing he can do about it. Would of done "I think" better going in, being honest with the judge, accepting responsibility for what he did. Not doing so they believe you are not accepting responsibility and will punish you more strictly. His client lost both ways. Ouch! |
