We have been foster parents for 5 years and have not had a better GAL to work with than Sherry Mahar. She is very accesable and always is willing to talk about any concerns we had. Sherry puts NO ONE ahead of the children and their well being. The children in DCS custody in Knox county are BLESSED to have Sherry as a lawyer acting on their behalf. |

Sherry did an excellent job when she was appointed as guardian ad litum for 2 children in our custody. She was very thorough. She went out of her way to provide mediation between the parties. She always returned calls promptly and she seemed to care about the actual parties. She was down to earth and motivated to provide justice for the children who cannot speak for themselves |

Sherry Mahar represented me in an excellent way and I highly recommend her services to anyone because she cares so deeply about people much more than money or power. She always returned my calls, kept me informed immediately about new information, and often asked me how I was doing. I've known her to put in long after hours at her practice going over details of each case. She gives of herself relentlessly. Her firm is busy, but she never turns anyone down, because she really tries to help children gain healthy lives. I highly recommed Sherry Mahar without reservation. |

Ms. Mahar was the Gaurdian AD Lidum for my kids. Even though she had no case against me and my fiance and more evidence discrediting the case she still pushed the issues. I have been forced to deal with her going on 2 yrs now. She only has her aggenda she supports. She went against dcs and now they are not involved anymore she still pushes uneccessary orders at us that we have to follow. Our case worker was for me and my fiance so Sherry now discredits the work she has done for us and has reordered alot of tests to try to get her outcome other than taking DCS's word for it. Very poor lawyer and unprofessional as can be. |

Sherry Mahar is one of the hardest working GAL`s that I have ever encountered. I have been a foster parent for 4 years and have never had a GAL that was as involved with their clients as Ms. Mahar. She always returns calls, is alaways wanting to be informed of how her clients are doing, and always listens to all sides of the complaint or problem. She is a champion in protecting children and their rights. She spends many hours outside of a regular work day ensuring that her clients are safe and well protected. I would recommend this attorney to anyone, and would quickly call on her in the future if need be. Obviously the bad comments are from people who did not agree with her excellent decisions and correct use of children`s rights and the law. She is excellent. |

First of all, let me start by saying that the people who left these bad ratings are intimidated by the fact that Ms. Mahar is such a good lawyer, the fact that she takes pride in her work, and goes to any extremes to make sure the children and clients she represent are well taken care of. Ms. Mahar was and still is my lawyer. She not only helped me through so much, there was times she cried with me. I don't call that being unproffesional, I call that being a compassionate human being that loves her clients and her job. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be the top of my high school class anymore because I would be in foster care or back with my abusive family. She has never been afraid to tell people how she feels (good or bad). She never thought about money and actually she wanted to protect mine for me for my future. God sent her to me in order to finish my journey for a bright future. I was told always to make sure you bring someone with you that would battle to the end. That's Sherry! |

Ms. Sherry L. Mahar gave my daughter and me a second chance at life. She worked diligently and around the clock so that my daughter and I would be protected from an abuser.I will never be able to repay her for what she has added to our lives. That is not to say that the relationship was always easy...I had to learn some very difficult life lessons at the time that I retained her. She was strong, honest, and fair. I needed that from her and I needed her support. I got it all and then some. I love you Ms. Sherry Mahar!!! |

Sherry Mahar is one of the best people i have met in my life not only as a attorney but as a person she made sure that what was best for me and my son happened. I do not only see her as an attorney i see her as a friend now, and i would recomend her for anybody. |

Ms. Mahar was the guardian for our foster children. She failed to listen to the children (who were old enough to be able to accurately state facts). The interviews she conducted with us were obviously biased. The sole purpose in seeing us was to substantiate opinions she had already formed. She was uninterested hearing in any responses which varied from her agenda. She did a poor job of carrying out her vital responsibilities. She was not representative of the best interests of the children. She acted solely as a conduit for the wishes of DCS. The findings she submitted reflected exactly what the Department wanted. It completely disregarded the desires and needs of the children. Basically, she had no intention of "biting the hand that feeds her." |

We are foster parents for one of the children that Sherry represents. We have been fostering children for seven years and Sherry is the first Guardian ad Litem that has ever even contacted us much less visited the child which shows that she truly does care. We found her to be friendly and knowledgeable. She has offered to help us in any way related to the welfare of our foster child. We very much appreciate her enthusiasm and concern. The children are lucky to have this lady on their side. |

Ms Mahar handled our case and did an admirable job. Were we the "winners"? Kind of. If you count that the children are with us. Truly the winners are the kids. We did not agree with every step Ms Mahar took or every statement she said. You might ask would I say that if we have the children? She did not represent us. She represented the kids. She was looking out for them regardless if we or the other party liked or agreed with her thoughts, methods, and suggestions. She did not care how we felt or the other party. She did not represent us, she represented them and to that end I give her praise. She saw what thet needed and worked deligently to ensure they received it. Thank you Ms Mahar, not for being on our side, or on the other, but for not representing either one of us. For doing your job the way the law requires and the way ethically and morally is right. May God bless you and you continue to be able to help those in need. |

I have known Ms Mahar personally and professionally for over 10 years. In my opinion, there is not any other attorney who can come close to the good that Ms. Mahar achieves on a dailey basis. She has helped more families and children than anyone could ever imagine possible. Ms. Mahar goes over and beyond what her job requires of her. You will not find a more dedicated, caring, smart, and someone who puts other peoples needs above their's, more than her. |

Sherry is my foster daughters Ad Litem. I feel very fortunate to have her working with my foster daughter. She is the first and only Ad Litem that has come to visit in my home. I feel she is the first one to actually take full interest in the child and make sure the child's interest comes first. I have had other foster children in my home but this is the first one, sadly enough,to go any distance to look out for the best interest of the child. She works night and day for the children.If someone doesn't like her style it may because they were on the other side where Sherry was trying to protect the child and maybe that person may not have been for the best interest for that child and Sherry had to fight for the child's interest and not all people would agree on that side on the issue. Please do not believe everything you read. Everyone has a comment good or bad and there are reason's behind those comments we may not always know the reasons. Please keep this in mind. |

With the removal of all negatives here it would seem to me that she has HER best interests only in mind and not those if fairness. Because someone disagrees with her and her tactics, should not mean that they should be censored from making their opinion know. |

Having been slightly involved with Sherry in a divorce proceeding for the last year or so, I am very glad she was appointed Ad Litem lawyer for the children involved. Her goal is for the protection and well being of the children involved. She is appointed to protect the children, not the parent. They have their own attorney. One side or the other will not be satisfied with Sherry's work, but you can bet the children are better off because of her involvement. It appears that the previous writer, dated 10/12/08, was on the down side of the court decision pertaining to custody and visitation. Maybe Sherry showed the court what he truly was instead of what he thought he was. I think that witer's comments are a better testimony to how good Sherry represents her clients than anything else anyone could say. Take it as a compliment Sherry. So, if you are involved in a custody battle, ask for Sherry. your children will be better off because you did. If you can stand the heat. |

Always easiest to attack the attorney than to take a HARD LOOK at your own behavior and how it contributed to the problems that brought you to the doorstep of the attorney to begin with!!!Family law is the hardest area of law in which to practice. Any attorney courageous enough to step into this forest fire has guts of steel. This bogus lawyerratings website is a perfect example of why these professional "ratings" web sites should be shut down. Anyone can post anything anonymously, make vicious unsubstantiated remarks and do so without any repercussions or consequences. Meanwhile, the victim of the post can only hope web editors are savvy and smart enough to delete any poison left behind. Usually the posts are not deleted. These review sites are worthless except for giving meanspirited hatefilled cowards a chance to vent their spleen. STAY AWAY FROM THESE REVIEW SITES!!!! |

This is my Mom. You may think I am prejudice, but I see her work everyday, and I see the results from her work. She is the most committed lawyer I know. She cares very much for her clients and their cause. She gives 110%. She works 24/7, and her phone rings off the hook. She prepares and presents the cases for the poor just as much as those who have money. She is respected by her peers immensely. For anyone to say my Mom is pitiful as a lawyer is disgraceful. I have watched her in the Courtroom as well as being with her at home visits,as well as witnessing her at hospital trips to see her Court kids, as well as meeting with her clients, as well as staying up all night to ready herself for a case, as well as researching the law to know that she "has it right," just to name a few examples. Even if she weren't my Mom, I would hire her in a minute and would be honored if she would take my case. |
