Abby's communication skills or should I say lack there of are horrible. However, she has no qualm about charging you everytime you try to communicate with her or demanding payments before she will take a next step in your case. She never seemed to even know what was going on in my case and thefore did not explain things to me that should have been. I highly recommend staying clear of her as she is why lawyers have a bad reptuation. |

I have no idea why Mrs. Rubenfeld would have ANY ratings less than 5/5. I have had nothing but a positive experience with Abby. She is so kind and caring. She truly cares about me and my family. She has fought for my family and has gotten us so far. I trust that if there is any issue that she can work it out. I love Abbie and cannot begin to think where I would be without her. I will NEVER be able to repay her for everything she has done and I will always be grateful. I would recommend her to all of my friends. |

Abby Rubenfeld is a self-righteous #$$, who seems to have forgotten the ethics involved in the American legal system. Being a business owner for a small company with many legal needs, I have delt with multiple lawyers over the years. Many of which are close friends. I have personally witnessed her less-than professional way of handling interactions with both parties in a case and attest, from this experience, that she is nothing more than a childish, rude, pretentious, and thoroughly contemptible, detestable person. Civil Rights? I apologize to the numerous people in Nashville that need a good representative in the civil rights/family law area, if choosing her. |

The "realistic opinion" on 3/12/09 is a joke. Abby must be having her staff and friends log on here to leave reviews to bolster her rating. Notice that she has two sets of good reviews that occurred on the same day. What are the chances of that happening? I will confirm: gay man here, she and her staff were rude and condescending, and she also did not give my case the proper attention. So much for the gay community having each other's back. |

Abby is a terrific lawyer and I cannot say enough positive comments about her and her staff. From the first day I met Abby, I felt confident in her ability to take care of business and get the job done. Her advice and support have been invaluable and I always felt relieved after meeting with her. She is extremely knowledgable and professional! I highly recommend Abby to anyone needing a lawyer!!! |

I was referred to Abby from a friend, who also used her in a family law case with GREAT review. I have had numerous difficult cases. I too was in an abusive relationship, and had to work hard to protect my child. Abby knew the law, and immediatly worked hard to quickly resolve my custody case. She is currently working hard to legally finalize an adoption case, to which my son will then have the father he deserves! Her staff is amazing as well. They are equipt to handle any situation...and with COMFORT & UNDERSTANDING!! Thanks guys:) |

You simply cannot get better representation than Abby Rubenfeld. She clearly communicated with me every step of the way and gave us the best legal service we could have hoped for. I would recommend her to anyone. If you want to feel well represented and confident in court, hire Abby Rubenfeld. |

Abby has been representing me on a variety of family law issues for over a year now and I have continually been impressed with her knowledge of the law, understanding of the dynamics of the court and her attention to detail. She has fought for me, reassured me when I was worried I would lose and maintained constant communication with me regarding the status of my case. She has a new, organized office team assisting her and continues to fight for the rights of those in the LGBT community both as individuals and as a whole.I would wholeheartedly recommend this lawyer to anyone needing assistance in her field of expertise. |

I had a bad experience with Abby too, which is unfortunate since as a gay man I thought she would really go to bat for me compared to other attorneys. From reading these reviews, opinions seem to be evenly divided. I think Abby's strategy is to take on as many cases as she can and only put effort in the cases that financially mean the most to her. She'll take any case to make an extra buck hoping she can get away with the lack of effort and expend them if the client gives her too much trouble. |

My ex fled the state with my children after years of abusing me. He had money that I did not have and got custody of my children illegaly. A friend called abby's office and spoke with Kristen. Abby took my case FOR FREE and worked with another attorney in that state to return my children to me within weeks. Her entire staff cried with me, kept me updated and made my pain their pain. Without Abby, Kristen and another attorney my childre3n would still be in the hands of my abuser. I could never thank them enough |

Abby is an excellent lawyer! She is responsive and professional. She has done a great job representing me..I believe her years of experience and her reputation with other lawyers is a great asset. If you need to be represented by someone who knows the law and the system then you should call her office to make an appointment. |

I had a wonderful expierence with Abby and her staff. I had heard stories of her "slowness" but when i hired her, she immediatley took care of my needs. Although we had a rough start, I got the end result that mattered and a lot of moral support from her staff along the way. Her paralegal, kristen, was sweet and always kept me updated and even a shoulder to cry on when i needed. abby even arranged for kristen to meet me at my job to sign papers because my schedule did not allow me time to come in the office. i have heard of no other attorney that will go that far to help a client. i will use abby again in the future. her knowledge of the law and the service and encoargement that i received from her staff was worth twice what i paid. |

I am absolutely appalled at the lack of communication inparted by this attorney and her paralegal. What makes it so sad, is that even if you call to inquire about the status of your case, you are charged a fee to learn "nothing" had changed. Later we found out that things had been updated with our case, and that Abby and Myjo had both failed to tell us. It truly is sad to be treated this way. |

I find this an excellent opportunity to express my feelings and give a realistic opinion about Ms. Rubenfeld. She was retained for a custody suit. She was professional, available, and handled the matter in a timely manner. I would recommend her law practice. Should I need the services of a lawyer again I would give her a call. |

This attorney represented me (or should I say misrepresented) in 1999 when I was splitting up with my partner. I felt that she would do a better job than most given that my situation involved a gay relationship and being in Nashville, which isn't exactly accepting or workable when it comes to gay issues. When I met Abby, she was extremely rude and questioned my version of things. Given it had taken several weeks to meet with Abby since she was out of town when I initially tried to secure her services and I was being harassed at work by my ex's attorney, I was desparate for action at that point and went ahead and hired her. Time went on, and nothing seemed to be getting done. Her office staff was rude whenever I called for a status check. I was ultimately told that she was in contact with the other attorney to arrange a time to recover my belongings, but I later found out that was a lie. When I caught her on it, she quit, leaving me to find another attorney. |

Abby is everything that a family law attorney should be! She represented me in my divorce and at the lowest point in my life, she lifted me up in a way that few attorneys would bother to do. She takes a personal interest in these cases that is unparalleled and deals with them in a very professional matter. I am sorry that some others have felt that she is not "fast" enough. My guess is that those people don't understand the judicial system or the hoops that she has to jump through in order to make things happen. Abby is at the top of her field and she deserves her reputation as a hard-hitting, smart, and caring attorney. |

Abby is a wonderful attorney! She has an incredible code of ethics. Each time throughout my case when I felt so frustrated and wanted to vere off the moral road, she steered me back in the right direction. She has been prompt on my requests and definately lives up to her alias of "the pit-bull". She hasn't hit me too hard in the bank account either considering what I've put her through. I would highly recommend her to anyone but especially to the glbt community. I feel strongly that no other attorney in the area is as knowledgeable in relation to "our" issues. Right out of the gates she put me at ease concering the fact that I am a lesbian mom in a divorce/custody battle. I have to say again that she and her paralegal are great! |

I used Abby because my ex was not allowing me visitation. I now have my son every other week. She did a wonderful job for me. It took some time but when we finally got in court she got me a great arrangement. Most fathers get every other weekend. Abby helped me spend an equal amount of time with my son.I will always be grateful. |

I was recently represented by Abby. We had a very short period of time to pull things together, and she did an amazing job. She was skilled, competent and professional in the courtroom, and helped me win my suit. I would recommend her to anyone. |

Represented me in a divorce and custody hearing. Did a terrible job. Did not fight for my rights as a father like she said she would. Was not knowledgable of the new child support laws. I will never refer anyone to her. |

Abby keeps logging on herself and posting that these are former employees rating her badly. She even did it to my last comment to block it. I am NOT a former employee and she should stop manipulating others' ratings and just do her job as a lawyer. Does she just haunt these boards all day to alter what others are saying in order to keep up her massive press campaign? As a lawyer, she was often rude, made negative comments that were unprofessional and out of place, failed to return calls, delayed or misplaced files, and just failed to put her all behind the case. Her assistant's behavior was less than polite too. |

this posting is not true, and appears to be from a disgruntled former tenant of mine. yes, this one is from abby rubenfeld herself. unlike the people attacking me, i believe in honesty and i don't hide behind anonymity. i have practiced law here for 28 years and helped hundreds of people. i don't always win--no one does. but i always fight hard and fight fair for my clients. i believe in them and i get their work done. i have never told anyone in my life "3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, what does it matter". that is absurd. there is no attorney in town who knows more about family planning and family protection for the glbt community than i do, and that includes the other attorneys who have learned from me, taken ideas from me, and benefited from my kindness only to turn around and write these false reviews. yes, i can be slow--i represent alot of people and i litigate. but when people need something done, i get it done and i defy you to find an attorney here who can do it better than i can. |

Hm. Wonder who's writing these positive reviews. My own experience was totally negative. She used to be a great attorney; now she doesn't bother returning calls or finishing things like wills. When I tried to get my files back, I said I wanted them in 3 business days. Her response was "3 days, 3 weeks, three months - what's it matter?" I actually had to hire another attorney to get them from her. And really, is "doing a lot for the community" a good excuse for ignoring regular people who just need a will, or a contract? Getting your money back is really difficult, too. No, sorry, folks, I'd really run the other way rather than do business with her ever again. |

I challenge anybody to find a lawyer more knowledgeable, generous and committed to justice than Abby. She defended my nephew for free when he couldn't pay her and got him a great deal when nobody thought it could be done. She has fought long and hard for the rights of minorities, especially our GLBT community, and if her volunteer political work at times gets in the way of paying clients -- so be it. We are very fortunate to have her. |

Must jump in and defend Abby. My divorce has been horrible and complex, with an ex who disappeared completely. I would have not made it through without Abby's knowledge and expertise. Yes, i will be the first to admit I don't think she has ever been on time to court in her life... BUT I have been so impressed with watching her in court and watching her advocate on behalf of myself and my daughter in our divorce proceedings. I personally think (by observation) that she gets behind because she is stretched so thin - because she takes on cases because of her heart and commitment to her clients. I will be a fan of hers for life and would recommend her to anyone - but would tell them that she often does things last minute - again, I believe it is because she has too much going on. GO ABBY - you rock in my universe! |
