I was very fortunate to find and be represented by Mr. Thomas in a credit card case. Years ago, the original credit card company piled on huge fees and finance charges after changing my interest rate, so I was unable to pay it at the time and they sold the debt instead of letting me pay it off. I am assuming the debt was then sold to a 3rd party law firm which tried to sue me with a "shock and awe" type of lawsuit giving me very little time to find the original records and answer the lawsuit in court. If this happens to you, I HIGHLY recommend contacting Mr. Thomas, as he is familiar with this type of bully tactic. Although he does not make outrageous guarantees, he was able to get my lawsuit dismissed. Throughout the whole process, he was very professional and thorough. It was great to have have someone on my side, and I am thankful it was him. |

We were sued by Michael J. Scott. We actually showed up a couple days AFTER the initial 10 day response and were pretty nervous. We had the lawsuit in hand and Michael took it and immediately started working with it. We were happy to pay his fee in full. He was VERY professional, courteous, and didn't make us feel bad for the debt at all. Anyway, after the LONG waiting game that credit card lawsuits usually take, Michael contacted us and told us that as in every Credit Card case, they usually go to court and our date was coming up. He said "don't worry about it" and made us feel at ease. Two days later he told us the lawsuit was dismissed. Guys, I can't stress this enough, USE this lawyer and don't let those bottom feeder debt collectors get one cent from you! Grade A+ service all the way with Tom M. Thomas. |

I was sued for a debt that had been bought by a disreputable debt company in hopes that I wouldn't fight it in court and they would win. I contacted Mr. Thomas and he clearly explained the process to me and the cost, which is VERY reasonable. Mr. Thomas explained everything that was happening with my case as it was happening and informed me what the "plaintiffs" were up to. He got my case dismissed. I am very thankful for Mr. Thomas and his staff and highly recommend him to anyone who is being sued by a debt collector.I did not have one bad experience with Mr. Thomas. |

I had the best experience, Mr. Thomas was pleasent to deal with. He worked with me on payment which I really need and appreciated. I would recommend him to everyone and any one. He was even available on weekends. I was able to communicate with him over the phone and via email!! Needless to say he is knowledgeable and in turn won my case. |

Mr. Thomas was found while googling I was researching the attorney for the collection agency. I hired him exactly one week after receiving my lawsuit summons. Mr. Thomas is very knowledgeable in what he is doing because my case was dismissed exactly one week after I hired him to represent me. Communication was great, he returned my call immediately after I called even though I didn't leave a message. I was unable to pay the full flat fee upfront and he was very understanding in setting up a payment plan. I would recommend this lawyer to anyone! Thanks, Mr. Thomas! |

This economy and other circumstances beyond my control has placed me in a hardship situation, like so many others. I have reached out to Tom twice to represent and defend me against the greedy, heartless credit card companies that will do anything to destroy a person's life, and both times Tom has demonstrated nothing but 100% professionalism and dedication to making sure my best interest were (are) protected. Tom doesn't treat you like a number like most other attorneys; he provides personal attention and a sense of comfort by reassuring you he "is on it" and will work hard to get you in a better place. Mr. Thomas successfully had my lawsuit dismissed. The plaintiff was an original creditor and due to Tom's experience and persistency he was able to present an aggressive argument which resulted in the plaintiff dismissing the case. My experience with Tom has been great. He was always responsive and respectful of my inquiries; always responded quickly and made it a point to make sure I was informed and comfortable with the process. I hope I never need an attorney again in this respect, but if I do I will surely call on Tom to represent me. |

This is my favorite lawyer ever! I got sued by a debt company that said they bought my old credit card. I didn't believe them and neither did Mr. Thomas. We were going to go to trial but Mr. Thomas got the judge to dismiss the case against me instead. I love this guy! |

I retained Tom approx two months ago. We are in the midst of defending my case and during the time Tom has represented me he has been responsive, attentive, responsible, and informative. He is the only attorney I have ever dealt with who encourages email communication (to his personal email) and responds to my questions and concerns quickly. Tom was quick to respond to debt collectors who illegally made contact with me after he notified them of representation; he called the debt collector himself after 5:00 in the afternoon to address the issue. Tom then educated me of my rights and gave me the option of filing suit against the bill collector under FDCPA violation. Tom truly has represented “himself” as a Consumer Attorney who really cares about his clients and looks for the best outcome possible for all of them. I hired Mr. Thomas to help me with a debt collection case. His fees were very straight forward and upfront. There were "no surprises". Not only did he get my case dismissed, he filed a counter claim and won. The entire process was very easy for me and Mr. Thomas walked me through this very embarrassing time. I find the comments made in the 8/29/09 entry below surprising. I had the complete opposite experience. Mr. Thomas defended me against a debt collector from New York. Mr. Thomas was aggressive, vigilant, and always a gentleman. He got the case thrown out. For the first time since I could remember, I felt like a tremendous burden was lifted off of me and that my life could get back to normal. I take issue with the complaints about Mr. Thomas' fee agreement. My understanding, and per his website, is the client pays a flat fee up front and nothing more, usually 500 to 1000 dollars. With attorneys charging anywhere from 200 to 400 dollars an HOUR, I think it is very reasonable! Second, if there were questions about the fee agreement, perhaps you should have consulted with another attorney beforehand, or hire another lawyer? In any event, I felt compelled to voice my opinion in light of those comments. Mr. Thomas turned my life around for the better, and I thought I owed him. |

Became rude and arrogant when I questioned the fee agreement. Said I was unrealistic just because I was seeking clarification to the attorney mumbo-jumbo in the fee agreement. Said he gets too many requests for help to spend the time with me answering questions about his agreement. I had to advise him that a collection agency violated FDCA because he didn't know. After he was coached by another Dallas firm who represents consumers for FDCPA violations he wanted to jump on the case but because I questioned the fee agreement due to it being unclear what expenses and attorney fees would come out of my settlement he refused to take the case.... In my opinion I perceived that he decided not to take the case because he was trying to disceive what my net back would be after the case
was settled. |
