It has been such a pleasure working with Lorna and her team (her assistant Lindsey and her law clerk Charlotte). Lorna communicated with me at every stage, ran through risk/benefit analysis with me at every stage, and talked to me about "picking my battles". As a result I was awarded significant costs at trial because I made great Offers to Settle along the way, and resolved the issues that could be resolved. I would highly recommend Lorna and her team. I read the negative reviews below and they seem to be from spouses on the OTHER side of Lorna. That is the highest compliment!

Lorena is obviously writing her own reviews. She is the nasties and most unethical lawyer- doesn't look out for the well-being of both parties and their kids. Unless you want to be terrorized and deal with someone with no compassion and basic sense, stay away. She will drain you financially, draw out proceedings in games, collude behind clients' backs, and try to influence court proceedings.

3.5 years dealing with the family law system, and Lorna is a coward that she can't even work with a self represented client.... She can't even speak to me on a recorded line.She will lie to Judges..she can't control her clients impact on children all this to make a living......Sadly the children have and will suffer for a lifetime due to a mother Impact and nobody cares...as they are teenagers and the system does not protect them..

I cannot say enough good things about Lorna and her team. She was alert to costs the entire way along, gave me options, gave me very direct and straight feedback even when I didn't always want to hear it and looped me in at every step. It made a stressful separation a lot more tolerable.

I had a really challenging separation last year from my spouse. Lorna and her team supported me through the entire process. Lorna was super responsive, honest (sometimes too honest!) and candid about the cost of each step. She helped me make smart decisions using my head and not my heart. I look back now on what was a super stressful time and am so glad that Lorna and her team supported me through it. My ex and I have a pretty decent co-parenting relationship now and I am grateful for the good choices I made during the separation.

She was very helpful in getting me through a difficult process during a sensitive time. She was very organized and professional, she clearly put in a lot of time and effort in my matter. Her work left me satisfied and I would recommend her as an advocate on any family law matters.

I can’t say enough about Lorna’s strategic thinking and communication on my family law matter. I retained Lorna after a bad experience with another “Bay Street” lawyer. The difference was night and day. She kept me in the loop at each step, thought 10 steps ahead of my spouse’s lawyer, and discussed costs with me at each major step, which I really appreciated. I felt like we were a team. I would not hesitate to recommend Lorna.

Lorna seems to be writing her own reviews, from the looks of the ones that were removed, she wrote too many positive ones about herself and got caught.

WOW, can't say enough about how great Lorna is. She is very smart and always had my back. I had a ex that was a bully. My ex brought motion after motion. She prevailed every time. I would give Lorna a much higher score then allowed. She is the best. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a great lawyer.

Lorna made a painful experience bearable. She was there when I needed her, focussed on what was best for our children, and not afraid to tell me when I was about to make a bad decision! I would highly recommend Lorna.

We hired Ms. Yates for my elderly father when he was going through a separation that involved a great financial loss. She was friendly and compassionate and thoroughly understood the emotions involved when a marriage dissolves. Her knowledge astounded us and worked extremely hard on our behalf. We had many questions and sent dozens of emails which were answered promptly. She fought hard for my father's money and we were extremely impressed with the outcome.

I had a very positive experience with Lorna. I interviewed 2 lawyers before meeting with Lorna. The listening skills she exhibited in the initial consultation were constant throughout my file. What I really liked about Lorna was her ability to take a deep breath (actually also forcing me to take a deep breath!)before making any decisions. She checked in with me at each step, and she weighed the pros and cons of each decision with me. I felt like I was in control but I had a coach, which I really liked. The quality of her drafting was superior, and she was really careful about having me review any document before it went out. My matter settled without having to go to Court. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Lorna to any friends or colleagues!
