In response to the former post, this is the attorney. Client confidentiality prevents me from responding to details of this case, but I can say that all of the poster's allegations are completely false. My practice's policy is to make all appointments (I've never missed one in all my years of practice), respond to telephone calls within 24 hours, and have a professional relationship with my clients. I have never had a bar complaint in my years of practice, including by the poster who knew that there was no evidence to back up her false accusations. I also have a policy of charging at an hourly rate. Like all employed people, I do not work for free. Most clients understand this. I regret that this client did NOT convey her disappointment with me, or I certainly would have done my best to explain more about the legal process of her case. It is a shame that you cannot please every client, though I bend over backwards trying.
My case was lost from the very beginning. It was very hard to get a response through phone or email. She was late or did not show at all for appointments she set with me. Divorce dragged on for months! My ex and I had nothing to fight over (no house, kids or substantial amount of money) and the process took twelve months. Not one time did we have a court date! My ex did everything he could to proactively "do nothing." I could not understand why a default judgment would take so long. She gave my ex legal advice over the phone on my dime! After I had invested so much time and money into her services I could not afford to walk away and start over with another attorney. When I spoke to her about my concerns, details of my case changed EVERYTIME. More money was needed when things were not being completed. Paper work that was turned into the judge was different than what I signed off on in HER office. When questioned on it, she wanted more money from me to fix what she had wrongly entered.
